Nice. Wish I would have known that you were looking I could have told you about Chris a long time ago. lol You should have gotten the one without the stops, they're kind of a gimmick because the t-5s have internal stops.

 

Thanks Mostizzle. What shift boot do you have? I still have to order one, but not sure what size to get. Did you get that from Chris to? I saw that he had some, but wasn't sure if they were the right dimensions for the opening in my floor.

It's the Mr. Gasket/Hurst/Spectre super boot. They are all made by the same company, they want an awful lot for them online but I got mine at O'Reilys for 15 bucks....

wow shifter looks good! really cleans it up compared to the factory one.

 

I got my Hurst shifter in the mail today so I decided to tackle it even though it was starting to get dark out. Thanks to my LED lantern and flashlight, I was able to get it done, except drilling the holes for the shift boot, I will get that later.

Thanks to Mostizzle for suggesting the shift boot I should get, fits nice. Pics are not that great because my phone does not have a flash, but they are below. Any questions, let me know.

If you follow the directions supplied with the Hurst Shifter, you should not have any problems. I had to reuse my old shifter bolts because the new bolts were to long and bottomed out before they could be torqued all the way down.

heres mine, except i took the chrome plate off the top because my truck is a chrome free build, i made an exception for the shifter lol

i really wanna get a t-handle for it

edit: i know my interior sucks, its on my list...

 

Mine falls out of fifth sometimes at around 35 MPH and not under load if its really cold. I'm pretty sure it's because the boot stiffens up in the cold because it never happens when it's warm. It hasn't happened in a looooong time though.

 

mine does it whenever it wants... more often when its cold outside, but could be while just cruising down the highway.. its really annoying..

 

How is your shift boot attached to the floor? I don't see the metal plate that goes around the perimeter of the boot.

 

I had to mount the boot pretty far forward in an unnatural position to cover the hole in the floor too. Did you?

 

I had to do the same thing. When I had the shifter in neutral before I screwed down the boot, the boot did not fully cover the hole. So, I had to do the same, move it forward to cover the hole.

 

His is just under the rubber mat IIRC.

 

I still really want one of these, but its far down the to do list.

oh and whats up with your cup holder jerry? it always bothered me but i never remembered to say something, why doesnt it have the top part like mine?

 

Damn it Jerry! Oh well I should go ahead and order the OBX header, since it costs as much as a stock down pipe and the rest of my exhaust is 2.5" anyway.... I need a cylinder head first though.

 

I don't know what's up with the cup holder, I just noticed earlier that yours and his look different than mine. Oh well it's no longer in the truck and broken now anyways. lol
