here is one. I now have movement in drive and reverse but it will not shift its like its stuck in 1st any ideas. I have not been able to get it going fast enough to see if it will shift into third.
 
I would say take it to a shop and have them check it over before it really messes up. I worked at a shop for a year and we would see small problems all the time that became thousands of dollars of repairs because the owner waited and tried to fix it themselves.

I had the same issue with a junkyard tranny I put in. I switched all the electronics PCM, VSS, and nuetral safety switch, from my old slipping tranny(bands are worn out) and still would not shift. It can't be electronic because there is nothing else electronic in it. I found when removing some of the solenoids that a a small "pump?" located in the rear of the tranny was broken, the spring that maintains pressure was sheared in half. Cahnged that and still the same problem no shifting from first gear. I am now waiting on another tranny from the junk yard. The only good news from all of this is I can swap out trannies in under 5 hours w/o a lift, tranny jack or power tools. So when i get the new one it will only take one day.
 
you had a broken accumlator spring?
yes. Aparrently the tranny was a certified rebuild (according to the tag on the tranny). when I took the bad accumlator apart I found the broken spring and a valve spring in there. I took that tranny back to the junk yard today, just the way I got it, bad accumultor and all, and they plan on fixing it and getting it back to me. I can't wait till they find the broken spring and accuse me of messing with it.
 
ok, heres one. My truck was flooded in Katrina, what number is that?

you sprag shit the biscuit. it flipped, and broke the cage, but sometimes you can make it flip back over, thats why the death rattle in 2nd and 3rd.
 
at the end of my trannt saga the junkyard was unable to rebuild my tranny for a reasonable price ($1200) so they are going to refund my money, but another problem has arisen I think i spun a rod bearing. :rant: :rant: It sounds like a midget with a hammer at idle but it goes away when i am driving. i was hoping (but i am sure it is unlikely) that this is a tranny issue, if not i'm sending the truck up river.
 
what, 1200 for a junkyard to fix a tranny? i dont even charge that much to do it right........................
 
I have a 99 sonoma 2.2 4banger. My tranny does the slip & studder in 1st and reverse when cold. I have a leak somewhere in front of the tranny pan. My floor jack broke today. Jusk a borken jack, no injurys, no damage. So I am having a hard time seeing the exact source. A few people i have spoke with have said it could be the torque converter. That sounds reasonable to me. What are your thoughts? Know anywhere to get a good converter? What should the ballpark cost to have one installed?
 
I have a 96 4X4 blazer that is having an issue. I just got it so I dont know much about its history, just what its doing now. Its a 4L60E that does not upshift unless you get speed up and then let off the throttle. Then it will shift. Seems to down shift fine though. It is also making a grinding noise in "D". No noises in any other gear. If you just put it in Overdrive it seems to work fine with no noises in any gear and seems to go through all gears, just doesnt like to up shift. The shifting was making me think of the TPS, but Im not sure about the Grinding.
 
ok I have a 94' 4.3L 4l60E im guessing. I left it sit for about 3 to 4 weeks and now my speedo doesnt work anymore and just wont shift out of 1st unless you manually shift it from the column and then will only go into 2nd! So I thought it was the vss so I went to the local junkyard and go one out of an Astro van. But when I put it in the truck when I got home It didnt seat down flush like it was when I took the old vss out. It sticks out mabey an 1/8'' from being flush. So I went ahead and plugged it in and took it down the road and still no change!

could it be the vss I got from the Astro van doesnt match up to my truck?
 
Ok I hear alot of problems and some are close but ima tell mine as well.
My 2000 2.2 4 banger will drive great from a cold start for anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Then it seems to throw its self in nuetral, now i can stop and shift to first and then shift to second but thats all it will do. I think the speedo dont work either dont really recall.

Now if I kill the truck for couple minutes then i can start it up and take off in drive and get from 3-10 minutes drive time again. Talked to a gm mechanic and he seem s to think its the 2-3 solenoid , and another tells me he thinks filter is clogged.

But prior to this problem i was cruisen the highway bout half inch of ground and hit a big chain (BIG CHAIN!) Dented tram pan up quite a bit . took pan off got new one and looked ok inside. I do seem to have a solenoid that feels looser than the others, gonna replace it and try that. But had a friend have same issue with tahoe and said he change a slim peice that was connected to wires int the pan that has lots of holes in it , not sure what the parts call but its in your face when you take the pan off.

Anyways anyone have any suggestion?????? I need help. Thanks for taking time to read all this crap,:)

I have the same prob. but my speedo does work?
 
have a '99 Blazer 2WD, and a '02 Blazer xTreme. My question is this; The '99 (83K miles) shifts very normally. The '02 (73K miles) shifts like it is in tow-haul mode, even though there is no option to switch as the full size trucks have. I bought the vehicle used with 60k on it, and it came with a factory tow package. The shifts are a bit firmer, and at a slightly higher RPM. There are no other issues with the tranny. The dealer flashed the ECM, and stated that the download from GM was based on the VIN number of the vehicle.

Is there a problem I am facing, or is the programming "sportier" for the xTreme to go along with the suspension mods?
