Fuel mileage is a valid question. Not everyone uses a carb anymore. As a matter of fact a good many people are using FI setups nowadays. People are beginning to realize FI isn't such a "black art" as once thought. A working system is fairly easy to piece together now with so much aftermarket support.
Very true... but I'm a cheapass and like something easy to tune. I hate wiring.

Besides... my firewall looks nice with only 5 wires coming thru behind the distributor where nobody can see... try doing that with fuel injection.

I'll just have to show you my setup when it's done. It'll still need work, but will look much cleaner than many carbed engine bays I've seen.

btw Jared, that's sweeeeeeeeeet

Anyone have a similar setup to this...?

283ci w/ 650cfm holley, TH400, and 3.73 gears?

Just curious what kinda mileage that might get because I'm going to look at an '88 regular cab with that setup tomorrow.

Yea I guess we should probably post up the fuel setup, tranny and rear end for comparison.

'84 305 mild cam, torker2 intake, holley 650 double pumper, th350, 4:10 rear.

I have an 11:1, 383 w/470hp. It has a 750VS DEMON, 3:73 gears and a 700R4 trans. I just long-hauled the HOTROD POWER TOUR and averaged 14.72 mpg for the entire 3000+ miles. There were some stretches of non-stop freeway cruising at 70-75 mph where I got 17 mpg.

However, strictly "in-town" driving I get around 9-11 mpg with a light foot.

pulled the truck on and off the trailer 4 times (each ), Tuned on it for about 2 hours total and did 1 extremely long burnout..... 4 gallons in a 5 gallon fuel cell and it was bone dry lol.

My truck has been through a few stages in the last 3 1/2 years. It's my daily driver and I have put over 60,000 mi on it since putting the LT1 engine in.

Stage 1
LT1, big cam, 4l60e, 2800 stall, and 3.73's = 14 mpg :(

Stage 2

LT1, big cam, 4l60e, 2800 stall and 3.08's = 16 mpg :(

Stage 3

LT1, small cam, 4l60e, stock stall and 3.08's = 18-19 mpg :)

Stage 4

LT1, small cam, T-56 (6-speed) and 3.73's = 22-23 mpg :D

mpg's are 50% highway 50% city.

Thanks for the info, now I can do that when I install the ls-1 or ls-2:)
