******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
Hey Guys, I am going to attempt to share all the knowladge I have on these swaps, My parts list and some very good links and usefull information.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wiring Harness: Seriously best money ever spent on my truck Current Performance Wiring Approx Cost$750![]() A/C Setup (Same as on my truck) Welcome to Street and Performance Approx Cost$ 550 ![]() Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market is an excellent resource for finding parts at an auto wrecker. Cooling The Upper radiator hose I used was from a 2001 Camaro. GM Part#10271554 LS2 water Pump GM Part#89017457 Conversion Radiatior V8 conversion manuals, parts for V8 S10, Datzun Z, Jaguar, Chevy TPI & TBI, Colorado, Astro Van V8, Volvo 200 & 700 I run (2) 10" electric fans pushing and (1) Pulling. I have no overheating issues. Misc Throttle cable is from a 2002 Chev S-10 4.3L GM Part#15010419 Cruise Control Cable GM part # 15045460 Transmission Flexplate Spacer (For use of 700R4 TH 350 TH 400) GM part#12563532 Bolts Part#12563533 (looks like GM just reduced the price on this) FUEL: You need a rail pressure of 58-62 psi There is an adapter fitting made by Russel Part#640850 that will adapt the GM rail to #6AN fitting. For guys wishing to adapt #6AN to their existing 5/16" return line use part #640860 ![]() FUEL PUMP My truck was a 2.2L Flex fuel truck. I HAVE MADE NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE FUEL SYSTEM! the factory flex fuel pump has supported 491RWHP and The filter has a built in regulator. Same as the Corvette. I used (2) Russell part# 640850 fittings and a chunk of braided stainless line that was all I needed. Filter/Regulator Setup is GM Part#10299146 Headers and Mounts These are available from Current Performance Wiring They fit great I am using them. ![]() The follwing list is part numebers for the C5 Accesory package. This is also in the 2007 GM performance parts catalog under a single part number but I do not have the number. PEKO??? Any help here. Alternator (1)10246634 (production) 10316182 (service) Alternator to bracket bolts (2) 24503609 Alt bracket to head bolts (3) 11516357 Alt bracket to head bolt (1) 11516356 Alt/ P/S mount bracket (1) 12555220 was superceded by part number 12578068. If your willing to notch the GM truck pan from any 4.8 5.3 or 6.0 will fit. It will also hang approx 1.5" below the crossmember. The LS2 pan is rumored to fit the 4x4 trucks without modification I can't confirm this. Tuning and ECM calibration. You can purchace tuning software from a number of locations on the net. The best way for the budget swappers would be the Predator tuner that Jared at Current Performance Wiring offers. Coil Packs If you use the round coils from the truck engines and the associated brakets you will not have to relocate the rear 2 coils. This is a good start for people.. I hope this points a bunch of you in the right direction. I will continue to add to this as I remember things that you might need. Last edited by Black X : 03-09-2007 at 02:10 PM. |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
If you do the corvette filter / Regulator you will need the adapter fittings. and then a peice of line to connect the filter to the rail.

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
So I will need to the fuel filter, the two fuel rail adaptors, fuel line. What other fittings, do you have the part numbers handy? Roughly about how many feet of line will I need?

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
you will need the female #6AN fittings for the line. And a chunk of line. I am not sure the exact lenght of the line you will need. It will depend on where you mount the filter.

It helps me also. If a mod is reading this, consider sticky-ing it as the information is Gold.
BlackX, since the previous two LSx swaps were deleted when the site took a shit, could you do a write up for those of us who are just about to start the same swap? |

In my opinion the harness from current performance is a neccesity yes. It can be modified or done yourself but what he asks is a small price to pay for a plug and play harness. Last edited by Black X : 03-10-2007 at 05:18 PM. |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
Since black X got off his ass and started this tread that is much over do I guess I should add my piece.
to start here is my photo album of the swap. some names and faces have been changed to protect the innocent: cgmerriner/truck swap - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I started with a 05 5.3 4l60e combo. with 13k miles on it. These were going in to my 99 reg. cab s-10 (it was an xtreme in it previous life) 400 miles after getting the swap done I had to rebuild it due to trash in #6 cyclinder. I will pick up from the rebuild with the motor. but will cover what I used to get to the swap done. Motor: 05 5.3 all new bearings, new #6 piston, thunder racing cam package using adv. dur. 265/271 lift 522/529 lobe sep. 114deg thunder racing push rods, with new valve springs. also went to ls7 lifters(fully jacketed roller) arp head bolts. TRUCK intake i used from an 03. I converted the motor over to cable driven TB. I blocked of the egr plate on the side of the intake. I have ha no problems with this set up. fuel system: I used a walbro 255 pump in the stock tank with stock fuel lines to the filter. from the filter I used the same fittings that BlackX used, this carried -6 line all the way to and from the fuel rail (I am running a returned system) I used a fuel pressure gauge that I got from ebay in the shrader valve. no problems with the fuel system as of yet (future plans commith) cooling: I used becools automatic s-10 aluminum rad (I live in florida) with a flex-a-lite 210 fan set up. (used on another v8 sime I had too) factory t-stat and a big tranny cooler that is mounted in front on the core support. see pictures. I dont know what hoses I used, I bent coat hanger up the ravaged the parts house. I ended up using two piece to make one. I dont like it but it works ,and if anyone else has used the truck set up and found a good upper rad hose please let me know. no temperature issues yet. wiring: Currentperformance, enough said!!!!! Accessory set up: yes, the kriptonite of the s-10 lsx swap. I used 100% all 05 truck acc. set up. the frame was notched for the ac compressor. the pw steering cleared the box, and the alternater cleared the hood (with the help of a cut off wheel to some hood bracing) now this worked because of how my motor set in there. I took a shot in the dark and hit. I AM NOT SAYING IT WILL WORK FOR EVERYONE. but if you happen to have it all try it. I dont want a bunch of people pming me saying "you said this and you said that and it did not work for me, I spent all this money because of you." that said, that is why I am typing right now, to help you from my experience of my swap. Exaust: 99 F-body manifolds, modified. from there I used a flowmaster 2.5" universal kit with all madural bends. pieced the the exaust together myself. runs over to the passenger side, h pipes the runs throught 2 magnaflow mufflers exiting with turndowns at the rear end. Oil Pan: I used the truck pan, I had a friend cut 2" out of the bottom and square off the front of the pan were it dips into the oil holding area. he also modified the pickup tube. Coil packs: I used some off a late model truck, they are more round and if you can find them and the holding brackets you will win! I myself robbed them off a friends truck and used them on mine, these jems DO NOT require you to relocate the rear coils! Misc. notes: I used jegs universal tranny x member to eliminate the factory bulk one, I used JTR lsx mounts (Current performace has them) 2.8 lower mounts with poly inserts. and a poly tranny mount. 4.3 cruse and throttle cable. factory blazer console with floor shifter. all the pictures I have posted are in the link i gave at the beginning. Future Plans: picked up a lap top couple weeks ago and hp tuners will be on its way. time for some real world tuning. (blackX I have to pick you brain on this) 8.5 rear end of this month, getting rid of vette wheels and starting the new suspension set up. ![]() and the video ![]() Last edited by BUCKET : 03-10-2007 at 11:25 PM. Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
I have some plans for the motor and such but it relies on my tuning abilitys. thats why I am shortly ordering hptuners and racking up your pms.
tune and suspension next, then back to the motor. to add, I have been using the aeroforce scan gauge in the 4x4 delete spot. works great, everything functions great except the oil pressure. doesnt read one wire sending unit oil pressure sending unit. |

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
When you two get the tuning done on both/either motor, could you post the data for us common folk? Knowledge is power, and I'm learning a lot from you guys, and Gmax111.
BlackX, I found on a different forum that GM recommends that the 6.0L iron block not be bored over any more than 0.020" over, have you heard similar things? After you cleaned up the block, what bore were your pistons? My 6.0L has 124k miles on it and came from a 2500HD used to pull around bobcats, so it needs a good bill of health before I throw it in my truck. 99 BUCKET, just grab a cold bag of corn/beans from the freezer. You'll feel better tomorrow or early Monday. Last edited by Rinkrat456 : 03-10-2007 at 11:41 PM. |

hook you truck to a laptop with hptuners and you can rule the world......
it allows for full tuning in real work settings and complete control over what your little heart desires. its a very powerful tool and peice of software. best way I could describe it. its a welders welder! |

Hey 99 Bucket, what are those part numbers for the upper radiator hose? And I was wondering what part numbers you used to make your intake. Thanx in advanced

Re: ******PARTS LIST AND SWAP INFO FROM BLACK X****** LSX Swap.
The Aeroforce scan gauge is nice...i have one in my gauge pod...shows tons of parameters of the motor...i mostly use mine for the shirt light and trans and water temp...and to scan and clear any codes that i may have in the future maybe. I went a dif route on the upper hose...cause I used the stock 4.3 rad...so i needed a steam vent...so here is what i did for the upper.
![]() Now S10-den...here is the fual system info you asked for. I used a Walbro 255 in tank...through the factory fuel filter...then under the cab it switched from factory hardline to -6an line...then to the Aeromotive regulator...then to fuel rail..and back to return under cab back to factory return line. the EVAP line is from stock hardline location with a rubber hose to the EVAP purge solenoid on the motor. ![]() ![]() ![]() I also used the stock Fbody alt and ps pump...just modified them to fit the corvetter bracket and spaced it out 3/4" to make it work. ![]() As for everything else...Used 98 fbody coolant temp sensor in pass head to make factory s10 gauge read....since the factory oil pressure sending unit was broke...i used the base of it drilled out to accept the stock S10 one so the oil pressure gauge works fine. i cant think of anything else. OOO for the intake...i used an intakehoses.com 90* 4" to 3.5" reducer to my MAF then to a 3.5" aluminum pipe into my cone filter. Any other questions im here to help also. |
