Kick Panel vent ?

I've got a reg cab with no a/c, just a three position slider (vent/heat/defrost) and kick panel vents. The trouble I'm having is getting the damn things closed. No matter if I push the lever in or pull it out, they still seem to let cold air in. I've stuck my head under the dash and can see the flappers moving, but I can't tell if they are open or closed. Any ideas/suggestions?

Happens to every truck with kick panel vents. My legs are always getting cold air blown on them, just something you need to get used too unless you seal them shut

Lowblazer, the cap lock button is a quarter inch to the left of the A key. Tap the cap locks button. Its a magical thing.

KISS MY ASS, I HAVE TO HAVE CAPS LOCK ON AT WORK FOR THE PROGRAM I USE, AND I FORGET TO TURN IT OFF, BUT NOW I AM DOING IT JUST TO PISS YOU OFF.

Dont they have some foam stripping on the? You might be able to get some thicker stuff from a hardware store.

My first S10 had the vents you guys are talking about. I went to the hardware store and bought springs similar to carb linkage springs. In the fall b4 it got too cold, I hooked them on the vent doors and over to a bracket under the dash. I had to do each side. They worked great and never let any cold air in at all.

If I still had the truck, I would take some pics. Very very easy fix.

yea, but then you got springs under your dash :p

that would bug me... i'd rather have nothing there at all... or maybe build a speaker pod or soemthing..? probably too far back under the dash though :(
