Alright guys I worked on the servos last night with minimal tools in hand and was able to get it all put together and since I had the cover off I installed the vette servo. When I took the cover off I looked at the seal and it had split right in half. It was a real bitch taking everything apart because I had to do it at home and I only had the tools I brought from work that I thought I needed. Fixing it wasn't as easy as I expected. After taking the cover off and the 4th gear piston I noticed that the piston housing for the 2nd gear had seized up in there. I was actually able to take a screw driver and hammer and dislodge it. I think installed the vette servo and that was a bitch without a c-clamp. Well I got it all installed and put back together checked my tranny fluid and filled it up. Amazingly after all that happened I only lost a quart and a half of oil. Well then I went out for a test drive and my nightmare didn't end with the broken seal. I come to find out that I have no 4th gear. I am suspecting that I knocked off a seal or the 4th apply piston is stuck. When I installed the cover back on I just put the 4th apply piston in the cover with the nipple facing out and pushed the cover on. Hopefully thats why its not working. Does anybody have any idea where I can get another teflon seal for the cover? Do I have to go to a tranny shop or can I get one at an auto parts store like Checkers or Autozone?

I am pretty positive that I put everything in, in the right direction. The larger nipple on the 4th apply piston was facing away from the tranny. I am gonna drive it around some again before I rip it apart just to make sure it wasn't my imagination or all the tranny fluid just hadn't circulated enough. It just felt weird when I was driving it. When I would hit the gas it didn't have the jump off the line like it did before. I sure hope nothing in my tranny is jacked up.

When you put the servo itself back in, did you put the teeth facing into the tranny?

No the teeth were facing away from the tranny.

Yeah I am just gonna have to pull it all out again. I just hope its something with the 4th apply piston cuz otherwise I have to unbolt my tranny and take out the tranny shim to drop it down enough to get the whole assemply out. I just wish things would go right for once.

There is a good chance I forgot to put some petroleum jelly on the 4th apply piston. Would that be something that could cause my problem?

Does anybody know if the autoparts stores like Checkers, Napa, Autozone, or any of the others would care the o-ring for the servo cover. I have called a few tranny shops in my area and all of them say they don't carry that. Hell most of them don't seel parts directly they only do repairs.

Do all dealerships carry parts? I have never been to one to purchase anything. I never felt like getting ripped off.
