Hi,

I'm looking at a job I did with bombs on my bumpers, and I like what I'm seeing. I used Tremclad after stripping all the old paint and rust. I want to repaint my truck after de-rusting, and eventually it'll be a house of kolor paint job, however, due to fluctuations at work, I can't afford it for a while. Which brings up my question. If I want to do my truck using the tremclad paint, but with the gallons rather than the bombs (because I have a quality Devilbiss paint gun) is it possible? Do I need any particular reducer, etc? I can't find any info on the tremclad paints anywhere, and I'd rather find out before I do something like this if I could screw up a future paint job because of this, or if I buy a gallon and can't use the gun, cause I ain't going to brush the stuff on....

Well, I found out recently that it can be sprayed directly out of the can, or diluted 5-10% with regular varsol. It is a standard enamel, which, if you'd like to clear coat, you have to do one of two things, do it right after you spray your last coat of tremclad, or if you want to wait, you have to wait 3-6 months before clearing, the reason being that while your top coat has cured, you have got to give it time to cure underneath completely, otherwise you will get shrinkage, and youre paint job will look like a scaly snake......
