BTW...'97 is a 2nd Gen.

 

If it's anything like the nv1500, there's a 1/2" square plug on the driver's side of the transmission.

 

Turns out my transmission does not have any drain/fill plugs. ( I would put a picture up but it won't let me)

 

It wouldn’t let me either, till I clicked the the little gear setting button, then all the other buttons came back.

Also, there should’ve be a metal tag on one of the bolts. Is there no tag or stamp or numbers or anything?

 

Can you get a pic of the bottom. Also, is it really light. Like could you pick it up and carry it around all day? Cause that’s how a t5 is. I know they put them behind 4cyl trucks.

 

It's a bit over 100lbs. Transmission code is M50 so I know it's nv3500.

Ya it’s a 2wd nv3500. Everything I’ve read says the drain is on the bottom, and the fill is on the pass side, toward the front. Also make sure you use synchromesh fluid.
