Hey guys...what's up. Well, here's the deal. I've never owned an s10 before, but I do own a 95 s10 Blazer. It sorta crapped out today and is gonna cost like $1500 to fix. I've been wanting one of those s10 xtreme shortbed/stepside's for a long time now and I'm thinking my broken blazer may be a good excuse to pick up something new.

I had a couple questions though and I was hoping that you could help me.

#1. What year did they start making the xtreme stepsides (shortbeds whatever you call them).

#2. Is the 2.2l a piece of junk? I've NEVER driven anything with that small of an engine. Most of the extremes I can find around here have the frickin 4cyl but I don't want to buy something cool looking and be pissed every time I drive it because it's so slow.

#3. What exactly makes an extreme different from a regular s10 besides the body kit? I was thinking about try to save some money and just buy a regular s10 stepside and pick up the ground effects later. I know that it's lowered like 2", but I'm planning on bagging eventually so I'm not to concerned with that.

Anyway, thanks for your time and any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx again

#1) xtremes came out in '99 i have one with the stepside...
#2) not a piece of junk.. you will just have less power... i suggest getting the 4.3
#3) body kit, zq8 suspension 1.5 inch drop around .. and more that im not sure about...

yes get the 4.3 you wont be dissapointed. as for what they have, they have the xtreme bagdes, zq8 suspension, body kit, 16 in. rims with 55 series tires, im not sure on the gears but i think they are different too, and they only come in a few colors. blue, red, white, black, yellow, and that maroon color. you can also get x's with the heat package which consists of vinyl flmaes. or you can get the racing stripes.

I just got a 4cyl in May. It is slow if you get it in an automatic. The manual isnt too bad. Gets great gas mileage. Really the 4cyl hasnt disappointed me except for when it kicks back at like 94mph. If you can find a 4.3 manual definately pick it up.

Thanks for the answers so far. I just got back from looking at I found a black '00 xtreme with 15k miles for $10,990. I'm kind considering that one. It's not a stepside so it's not exactly what I'm wanting but it's still pretty nice.

I don't really care much about the wheels and tires because they won't stay stock for long. Same for the heat package...don't think I'd ever get "factory" customization like that. I'm one of those like to make it look my way kinda people.

Again, thanks for your help...

i suggest fleetside anyway.......(dont get me wrong here, iam not flaming you stepside guys) because if you want to get a roll pan you will need stepshavers too.
