Do you still have the spare tire carrier?

 

I fianly got it to work, I had to pull on one side of the hitch like crazy, that and my frame was caked with crud. New issue is that since I have a 2/3 drop, the hitch is like 5 inches from the ground. Im kinda concerned with towing a u haul trailer. Im not complaining that my truck is lowered, Its just been an emergency that I have to move and now I have to tow some heavy stuff. Any ideas on the type of draw bar to get? I def. dont need one that lowers the ball anymore. And do you think a reg. bumper ball will tow a mid size trailer?

 

you can get a reciever hitch that's offset usually for higher trailers but in your case it should raise trailer back to a normal hight.

 

Get a 6" drop hitch, turn it over so it's a lift hitch instead. I used to have my 4" drop hitch turned over which made it slightly lower than my bumper ball. (This varies with hitch). This was at stock height, now that' i'm lifted, my stock bumper is really too high for most trailers, so my hitch is now a drop hitch. Figure out what height the trailer tongue should be at and buy a hitch for that. It's best to keep a trailer level when towing, especially dual axle trailers. I hate seeing dual axles with one set of wheels practically off the ground due to incorrect leveling.

 

great idea. This will be a single axled trailer. The U haul said that is the max my 2.2 can tow with a receiver hitch. Thanks

U-Haul is full of it. I pull a 16' gooseneck with my 98 S10.

 

I think it turned out ok, just finished wiring for the trailor also

I cant keep my bumper with this one. When I get to TX and have time, Im going to look to see how much cutting is required to keep a roll pan. If its goin to look like crap, Im not goin to bother with keeping the hitch, just put it up. Also, the uhaul trailer states to only go 55, thats goin to suck pretty bad driving 14 hrs. And is your ball upside down?

 

Yea, well, I originally had it facing up, as I told you to do, but after lifting my truck, which is why i took the pic, I rotated it over and just hadn't remounted my ball correctly yet. But I have it as I should now, and it's a drop hitch for me.

And when I rented their enclosed trailer, I drove it at 70-75 without any problems.

 

i had to buy a drop receiver and flip it to get the right height for a trailer on my astro van. works like a charm.

as clean as your truck looks, i'd hate to see the back ruined by that hitch.

i wonder if you could trim the sides to raise the hitch up a little and then fit your roll pan back in place?

 

Ill probably just sell it and get one that hides behind a roll pan, looks pretty sweet. This was bought in a time crunch and didnt have time to look around.
