i dont think they "mix" primer. you get what you get. not sure as to how much you would need.

 

i know that most body shops can "tint" primer.. but they cant match it to paint because then it would be mostly paint if i am correct.

 

Primer can be colored, I don't know how it's done (might be with a little bit of paint), but yes it can be done. Your best bet is to find a local paint shop and go there. And you will have to put a hardner and a thinner in the primer and mix it before you spray it but you can do that yourself. To answer your other question, a quart of primer should do it. Thats what we used to prime my mom's Oldsmobile, but we went over it two or three times, and that thing's big.

 

i heard primer cant be tinted, but then again im no bodyman. lol. i heard you can get sealer tinted to anything you want. as long as its a solid color

 

primer can be slightly tinted your primary colors and some varients such as green and violet and all but i think what your seeing when you see cars with a "color matched" primer is actually a coat of sealer this is mixed using white primer then tinted to get relativley close to the base color. sealer is applied over all parts to be painted prior to painting to remove any minor imperfections. this is not primer. it is however primer based

 

If you go with Sikkens Colorbuild system, which is what I am fimilar with.. it can be tinted to match any color as long as the painter knows what he is doing.. depending on how many coats and how heavy you put it on.. I almost used a whole gallon on my truck.. but alot of it was sanded off.. etc... but you will also pay alot for the Sikkens.. if you not sanding it.. just get the sealer hardner/reducer... it will layout better then when mixed as a surfacer.

 

my buddy painted my syclone with sikkens. i love that paint. i paid close to a grand just for materials
