klunks when started

I have a 96 jimmy when I start it I hear a klunking soud and the steering wheel vibrates. It dose not happen all of the time, any info.

Don't change them unless they're broken. Check them 1st by trying to move the engine around by pushing or prying. You can put it in gear with the hood up & parking brake on, reverse and drive, and see if it moves alot.

i had the same noise. turned out to be my exhaust hitting my trans crossmember which sits right under you. get under there and check the rubber thing that is atatched to your exhaust hanger right there. mine was rotted and broke off so my exhaust was able to bounce up and down. and it only did it when i was starting my truck

Mine does the same thing(very rarely) and I haven't checked it out cause it sounded like the exhaust so I figured it was.

mine will clunk like someone put a wrench in my flywheel, and its the starter, when i had an electrical problem and my battery got low. when the battery was low the starter turns a bit then CLUNK and spins again and starts. just a heads up, if it does it one morning throw a multimeter on it and check the battery voltage. just my 2 cents.

having the exact same thing...feels like somebody jamed a rod somewhere...but the engine doesnt actually stop (obviously)
