SO my cousin just gave me a Clarion XD516 Head unit last week for saving his dog.. But after i got it home i relized the jackass only gave it to me becasue the Detachable faceplate had pepsi or somthing spilled all in it.. SO obiviously i had to order a new one. No big deal .. It came i put it on looks great.. So i go to put it in my truck thinking i would know figure it out as i went.. I get the stock radio out.. and all the sudden i relized that i am car audio retarded.:p  ... None of the plug will plug up. which i expected to be the case.. Theres a DIN connector on the back of my clarion HU .. but not one in the truck.. and for some other reason my antenna plug won't even plug up becasue it's to small ( but I can fix that in a jiffy)

So what do i need to get this HU in my truck.

I have the adapter plate to convert my 1.5 DIN slot to 1 DIn for the HU..

So do i need some sort of wiring harness to hook this up?
like this one?

Please help me to overcome my audio ignorance.

10$.. thats great!..

So does this harness dealie-o have the din connector on it.. or do i jsut not use the din plug?..

Do all aftermarket HU have the same connector's.. cause it seems like it'd be kind of a P.I.T.A to have to put in a new harness for every new HU you get..

Now i jsut relized i don't have the connector to my Equalizer either.. I got it for free from this guy down the street when he moved..

it's a clarion 74EQ. does anyone now where i can get the connector for it.. and also some please direct me in the direction of how to hook it up ..

thanks guys.

Do you have the harness that plugs into the back of the new headunit? Basically the wiring harness that you can buy from walmart plugs into the truck harness, and the other end is bare wires. Connect these bare wires to the wiring harness that comes with the new headunit. Soldering and shrink wrapping is the best way to do this, but crimp connectors will work too. The clarion equalizer should only need connections for power, ground and remote, (all from the harness you will be putting together) and the RCA outputs from your deck.

Clarion makes pretty decent stuff. I'm not even sure there should be a harness with the EQ. Most of the time they just have screw terminals on the back for the three wires, and a bunch of RCA plugs for the inputs and outputs. If it does need a harness, any Clarion authorized dealer should be able to order one for you.

I got it in.. My harness came with the adapter for my antenna...

However i still am trying to figure out how to find a harness for my equlizer.

I just emailed Clarion.. I figured they be most helpful.. we'll see tomarrow when they answer me.
