Help! a few specific bucket seat install questions,

I know alot of these threads seem to be popping up lately but...............I picked up some cavi seats from the yard this weekend and I noticed my bench seat only has four studs. Two on the outer ends near the doors. I have a 94 regular cab and my questions are as follows

1. I obviously have to drill through the floor to install the other four studs. Is there a method anyone can suggest for this or any tips to avoid leakage and or rust?

2. I've searched and read that a few people have had trouble removing their seat belts. Do they have to be relocated to the bucket seat frames themselves or can I leave them in the stock location?

Any info or tips you all can give are appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure of how to bolt the seats down, but I do have one suggestion, please, for your own safety, don't shortcut this. If the seat and/or seatbelts aren't correctly installed, you could have the seats come out of the floor in a wreck, and possibly throw you or another party out the windshield or slam against the dash.

DON'T drill through the floor!!!!!!

Just go get some factory bucket seat brackets or 60/40 split bench brackets from around the same year as yours. Take off the factory Cavi brackets, and bolt on the bucket-60/40 brackets and bolt them into the truck. And your done!!!
LISTEN TO HIM....thats the easiest, simplest, and best way to do it...just get some s10 stock bucket or 60/40 tracks, unbolt the stock cavalier tracks, you'll have to drill 2 holes in the cavalier seats for the studs from the s10 tracks to fit, then bolt the tracks up, and bolt the cavi seats w/ s10 tracks to the floor

I understand that part. I already have the cavi seats and a the seat tracks from an s-10 that I pulled from a yard. What I don't have is four studs for each seat. When I removed my bench seat, there were only four bolts total in the floor. Two on each side nearest the windows. In order to install the buckets, I need eight studs in the floor, four for each seat. After I attach the tracks to the seats I will be short four studs in the floor..............I hope that makes sence.

I was hoping someone else with a full bench seat may of done this. I wanted to hear what they did. Is it because mine is a 94 that I don't have the bolts in the floor. Did anyone else that swapped out there full bench seat have all 8 bolts in the floor?

"HMMMMM, i see now grasshoppper san"

i would either drill the holes and weld a bolt and washer from the underside up through the floor, or drill the holes and weld a nut on the bottom side and use a bolt through the top of the floor down. i would use weld through primer to seal the floor from rust before welding, and use slicone to water proof it all.

just my .02.

I'm a little afraid now. Do you think that will be safe? Thanks for your input too.

That is basically what the factory ones are anyway. i would just use a big washer with the bolt through the floor, or a washer and nut welded together then to the floor to give it more support. there should be a floor brace right there anyway, there maybe also factory spots where the buckets seat holes should have been.

i would look

Yeah, I was thinking there should be some kind of marking to tell where the studs would have been if they were there. When I decide if I want to get serious about this i'll tear things down and check it out. Thanks again.

now remember, he said "don't drill through the floor" or was it "drill through the floor, because thats what the factory basically does" . . .crap. . .superglue and ducttape. . .you can't go wrong there
What?

I think he was saying don't try to use the cavi brackets by drilling a hole just to bolt them in. Since I don't have the studs because of my bench seat, he suggested drilling and installing a new stud in the stock location because it is already braced and should be safe. I still don't know if I want to try this. I'd really like to hear from someone that has actually done this and see what they did.

i heard it was ok to bolt stuff to teh floor as long as it was renforced with like some steel plate, adn big washer to spread the weight. just dont bolt them to the fram beucase it could pinch you when the body flexes

Hey bro, im dealin with the same thing, i took out my bench seat, in replacing it with buckets....im not sure wat kind of seats i have...one of my freinds had them hanging around from a project that he never used them for.....wat im doing...to get the right hight, pitch and all that is making my own mounts.... my buckets or attached to the original sliders by bolts on the side...so im just gonna make new ones.....and like some of the others said put a bolt through the floor.....or i might also just weld the one bracket in....cause i can still take the bucket out even if it is welded to the floor.

Just my way of doing it, once i get some pics i'll send them to you since it sounds like your not in a real hurry to get them in...this will give you some options

Good luck
