On the rear of the tranny is your vss switch, or better known as your Vehicle Speed Senser , should be a green wire, and a purple wire. If you cut the wires , and run a toggly switch you can deactive it, But when its turned on you will lose your speedometer, and it sets a check engine light.

is there a way to get around the speedometer not workin?
Get a GPS with a speedo? I've seen that done on my buddies 1980 dodge pickup... speedo broke long ago so he uses that.

Otherwise, no.

Your speedometer only goes to around 100 anyway so it doesn't matter. Flip the toogle when your needle gets around 95 MPH. Your speedo should work until you flip the switch. BTW this can't be done with an automatic.

maybe a speed sensor out of an earlier s-10 will work. Bypass the PCM, those dont go through the computer, they are straight to the guage. Just a thought, you CEL would prob come on,but who cares.
