flywheel spacer problems ls/th350

I have a 99 model 5.3 and I am hooking up a th350 with a b&m converter to put in my car. I tried the converter without the spacer and the converter mounting holes met the flywheel and left a gap between the flywheel and the converter snout. So I installed the flywheel spacer between the flywheel and converter and now the snout of the flywheel hits and leaves a gap between the flywheel and mounting bolts. Am I doing this right? The flywheel has a dish to it, it is not the flat one. Hopefully this will be a simple fix.

If you are using the Hughes adapter #HP3795 you will need the curved flywheel and you would need to slot the mounting holes appropiately. Most 6.0's I have brought came stock with the proper flywheel. Get the matching starter. LS1 camaro flywheels look quite similar IMO. That flat one WILL NOT work with the hughes adapter.

My flywheel is the curved one and everywhere i read online says to mount it in the order of: crank, flywheel, spacer, converter. I measured the gap and it is 3/16" between the flywheel and converter mounting holes. I am using the gm spacer with longer bolts I ordered through the dealer and I will be slotting the holes.

lol

it doesnt matter what flywheel you use. they are just installed in a different order:

curved: crank > flexplate > spacer
flat: crank > spacer > flexplate

the converter should slide forward enough to take up that gap. are you 100% sure its seated all the way?

what you have sounds like it should work. if theres still a gap then i would look at getting the flat flexplate... else you could try putting the spacer on first. im not sure if the flexplate will seat overtop the spacer though

ive posted these before but since it pertains to the thread, here they are again
