I have a 98 s10 and it's started to get cold so I flip the heater on and it only works on third setting for the fan. As I'm driving down the road it starts making a horrible kind of squealing sound. That was a few days ago now it is making more of growling sound that's fair loud. I have a decent sound system and can still here the noise over my system. Not sure if this is the fan or what not going out or if there is an easy fix to it please help

Moshi, Check the fan switch with a voltmeter to see if the other settings are showing voltage. My guess right now, would be that your switch is bad. And the heater fan is also.
Nine times out of ten, if you're only getting one or two speeds, it's the blower motor resistor. Unplug it, and check to see that you've got power going to it in each speed. As far as the noise, probably the motor itself. Mine chirps when it's cold. Has done it as long as I've had the truck. Somewhat annoying, but I haven't bothered trying to fix it yet.
