I have the Infinity Kappa 6.5 component set as most of you know. I was wondering 2 things.....

first of all, I would like to see some pics of where people mounted the tweeters.

Secondly, I was told I wouldnt hear the 6.5 midbass at all, and to be honest, I cant. Why is that? Why should you spend so much money on something you cant even hear? I was talking to a guy at an audio shop that installed my alarm, and thats what he said, that I prolly wont hear them at all.

i dont undersatand why he would say that? of course you can hear the mids, i know i can definatly hear mine. i think you will be very satisfied with your infinity comps once they are in, as far as mounting tweets (no pic yet) the triangle sail panel, a-pillar, and mounted on a plate in the dash pods are the most popular choices.

My mids are already installed........

I am running them off of the crossovers that come with the component set, and then the Hifonics Zues amp. I can barely hear them at all.

I desperately want to see some pics of tweeter installs.

I have a pic of my tweeter install on my cardomain page in my signature. Mine's in the sail panel. Sorry I'm still a loser who doesn't understand how to post pics in threads :p
Edit: The picture is on Page 2.

Hey Slammed Isuzu, where are you going to mount your crossovers? BTW I plan on mounting my tweeters flush in the door panel about 5 inches directly above the woofer( the speaker grill comes on the door panel) I am mounting them at the top of the point. I refuse to leave them in the doors! I might put them under the center console, but I am not sure.

Right now, my crossovers are mounted on my box. I dont know if you ever seen the thread I made while I was building the box, but there are plenty of pics there showing them. (do a search on "finally started my box")

Thanks for the idea, I am going to decide tommorow, because I am completely work free tommorow and have time to mount them.

take care guys, and thanks for all the help! :D

I see you have an alpine deck too........good decision there. :D
Hehe yea thanks. I wanted to get the 9827, but Circuit City had the 25 on Open Box for $130+"free" installation...so I couldn't pass that up :D
It's the practically the same deck anyway. I did a little research: The 27 gets CD text, remote, different color display (which I like more...), and I think there might be one more minor thing - anyway, and it costs $270 so yea...

Do you like the 4x6 Kappa's? I've been thinking about getting a set...

haha yea... great so just when I thought I was done with the stereo, I've added an amp for the components and kappas for the dash to the list... sigh it never ends :p :D

yea definately know what you mean there. I've had "vacations" similar to that before

So you're running a component set without the tweeters? Here's my guess, to get the 4 ohms at the crossover each 6.5 and tweet are 8 ohms, and combine for 4 ohms at the crossover. If you're not running tweets you're getting 8 ohms at the crossover right? So you're amp is probably pushing 8ohms which could cut the output of your amp in half, or by even more depending on the amp?

Wire up your tweets and see if it makes adifference in output.....

first of all, i think death has a good point. if you **** with the impedance, you're not gonna get the full output from the amp, and you'll try to over-compensate with the amp gain and you'll end up sending "dirtier" sound to your drivers. also, another point could be that the midbass driver is meant to complement the bass from subs (as well as giving you the mid- and deeper part of vocals, etc.), which i'm assuming you have, and not to give you any sort of rumble. what you're looking for from your midbass is the actual "thump"-ing sound of, let's say, a drum, to make that actual drum beat from your subs appear to come from the front as opposed to the rear. it takes a little patience and a pair of good ears to really hear that while you're tuning, so give it a few tries over a few days so your ears don't get "tired". i say grab a nice clean rock album, like Green Day's Dookie or something like that, turn off the subs, and after your tweeters are up and running, tune your Kappas to a nice, full range sound, minus any low-end bass, meaning any drums out of those Kappas should be quick, clean and sharp "pops", as opposed to hearing most of the bass of those drums. sorry, but thats a lot of jibberish i just gave you just trying to get my point across, but i hope that helps....

umm his tweeters are just waiting to be installed... he's not leaving them out... :dunno:
