2001 SONMA DRLs

JUST WONDERING ABOUT MY DRLs. When i start my truck all marker lights and the 2 outer headlights come on. thinking that the drlS should be the inner headlights, When i push the override button on dash. all lights go out until the next time i start the truck. and there is no change in the transition between night and day they are the same.
i have lived with this for the past 5 years but it comes to mind when seeing other drls working properly .
read many post on drls, and may have confused myself,LOL

Sounds like the AHL (Automatic Head Lamps) are coming on not the DRL. On the right side speaker cover on the dash, you'll see a little nub. That's the ambient light sensor. If that's no good or disconnected, your full lighting system will stay on as you described it as long as the key is on. Pushing the override button on the dash in a sequence disables AHL not DRL as you have done.
