Somebody suggested this to me. I would pull on out of a Grand National but the fact they are hard to coe buy in wrecked form even and the thought of cutting up a good one kind of scares me. I know you will need motor mounts fabbed, depending on which tranny you have you'll need new crossmembers and driveshaft as well as rear end. The 3800 series from a front drive won't hook up to a rear drive tranny without there being an adapter plate so you might have to fab that as well. Your going to need lots of beer, band-aids and good welding skills for this one. I don't know if the oil pan would clear the front crossmember or suspension.

I have been planning on using a V6 out of a late model camaro or firebird, the 3800 series 2 motor makes 200hp/225tq. There is quite a bit of aftermarket support for that motor, so getting to the 300hp point isn't that hard to do.
I still am doing research, but it looks like a promising swap.

That sounds good. I was trying to think of what else they came in in a rear wheel drive setup thanx for jumpstarting my brain. You might be able to just modify the transmission mount from the Camaro or Firebird. Those motors I'm sure aren't hard to find. Let me know how it goes if you do it.

the rwd and fwd have the same bellhousing bolt pattern. only differnece in the 3800 series II FWD and RWD is the intake manifold and prolly the oil pan.
I had forgotten that from earlier. I knew there was a difference in the two though.
