So I bought an s10 today at an auction. It is a 99 ext cab and it has the zq8 wheels on it but it does not have the zq8 suspension... the 55 series tire does not fill up enough of the fenderwell or something- basically it just doesn't look right... especially in the back...
if i'm going to put new tires on it but keep the wheels, what size tire can i go with to help it not be a "low profile" tire on a "non lowered" truck

What do you want it to look like? Thats your choice, but since you asked.
The stock tire size should have been 205/75-15. (27.1" x 6")
The 16" equivalent is close to 215/65-16 (27" x 6") That would work even though it fits up to a 7.5" wheel and the ZQ8 is 8" .It wouldn't throw your speedometer off.

A 225/65-16 (27.5 x 7.2) A little taller and a little wider.

This is all based on Kumho Sense tire sizes.

Stock tires are 205/75r15 @ 27.106 tall and 8.1 wide

215/65r16 @ 27.004 tall and 8.5 wide

235/60r16 @ 27.102 tall and 9.3 wide - Best option for speedo accuracy, might rub the frame and/or sway bar at full lock.

Different height tires on front and rear might cause issues with the ABS, so I would stick with the same size all around, and you can rotate them too.

I have cheep-ass tires on mine 245-50-16 all the way around,no rubbing at all and ive been running this size for 15yrs. mine is a real ZQ8 truck.
