I think there is a thread here with a bunch of pics of single cab setups

I'd go with a XXX, Brahma, IDMax, I would say W 7 but that limits your choice of amps, an E12A isn't quite a supersub, but it's very close, and alot less money

I think you said you have an 850 watt amp, is that RMS? If that is RMS it would go very well with an E12A, at 4 or 1 ohm mono

If i was looking at a truck, and someone patched the blow through they had, I'd say no thanks and keep looking. plus, i dont even know if a dealership would take it as a trade because they'd probably consider a hole in the cab major body damage, even if patched.
He's got an 85 s10 truck, it's not really going to matter as far as a trade in at a dealership. If my truck was an older model and I bought a fiberglass cover I would do it.

But I wouldn't do it to:

1. A truck less than 10 yrs old

2. An older truck that has very low miles (like 45-60,000) and was kept up and looks new.

3. Or a collector truck

On an older truck with high miliage it's not going to make a bit of difference on the value if you did that to it. Those trucks usually sell for $1000-1500 anyways.

I would go for it if you got the cash for the subs, amps, and bedcover. You can build an enclosure in a "V" and put four fifteens or four twelves in it.

I remember back in 1993 a guy that competed around here had a lowered 1989 red s10 truck with a crawl through, he was running four old rockford series one fifteens in the bed, two punch 45's one on the front stage and the other on the fifteens. It was a very simple and low budget set-up. He competed in the 50-100 watt class. He constantly hit 146-149 db...which was a lot for the time and what he had. It looked really cool to lower down one of his camaro seats and see those big speakers staring at you, it was accented with neon and mirrors.

I also have built enclosures for those old s10's with four eights or two 10's and it sounded pretty good on a nice 250 watt amp, no cheapies.

I have been installing since 1989 and have owned a few of those trucks as well as doing installs for my buddies that own them , you can get some decent bass out of them.

Hey az_slammed-85. I should be finishing up my fiberglass enclosure in about 2 weeks or so. If ya want we could set something up so that you can actually listen to my two 12" Thunder8000s since you were orginally looking into those subs. That way you can at least get an idea of how hard they actually hit.
