the t5 will only bolt to the small block with a custom bell housing. the 2.8 is a 60 degree block whereas the 350 is a 90 degree block. advance adaptors sells kits for the t5 but i would recomend an nv3500 for strength. the t5 won't last too long behind the 350 even stock. the nv3500 will bolt right up cause they are used on the 4.3l s-trucks. the 4.3l has the same bolt pattern as the 350 or any sbc. you could also run a t56 six speed for better economy and the cool factor of 6 gears.

how about a T56 will that work ? does anyone know?
yes it will, i believe there are like 2 bolts on the bellhousing that wont line up, But it will bolt on. or you could just get a bellhousing from a t5 that came on a v8 camaro.

As for all the transmissions, heres a basic list that people use

World class t5. (from a camaro)
nv3500. From either a 4.3 s10, Or a fullsize
muncie 4 speed
t56.

Im sure you could get others to work. but those are generally the easiest to find. And if you wanted to use the Borg warner t5 from the 2.8, Advance adapters sells a bellhousing adapter. or you could get a v8 bellhousing. But i would not recomend even thinking of using that trans. it will definitely not handle a 350 for very long. unless you drive like an old lady. and in that case, Theres not really a point in having a 350.
