I'm dealing with three problems. Maybe they're related. For your information, I just changed out the heater core before all this started.
First,
I've been hearing a humming sound coming from my 92 S10 Blazer, 2wd drive, Z vin 4.3L V6, automatic. I hear it at 75 mph every time without fail. I hear it for a second just before a shift. I can hear it in park when I slowly rev the engine up.
I haven't felt anything different while driving.
Second,
I drained the radiator and when I refilled it it only took a gallon and a quarter, its supposed to take 3. I did it because I just changed out the heater core. I think I remember the drain pan holding more than 2 gallons at least. I've driven long 40 minute trips. I've checked it over and over and the level is not going down and the reserve stays the same.
Third,
For awhile I've had a slow leak somewhere around the transmission. The pan has dried crud on the rear of it. Behind the pan and the frame right there is all juicy. I've been checking the transmission fluid level a lot and it's at operating level and a good red color. I give it time to heat up, put it in every gear, then check it. I plan on spraying the area down with degreaser and pressure washing it with the hose to see if I can find out where its coming from.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.
