good luck getting 20mpg from a 4.3. none of that shit will ever give you more mpg. you want more mpg heres what you need

1. K&N FIPK or some sort of intake.
2. Free Flow exhaust
3. possibly a chip or programmer
4. Less Skinny pedal

I get 21 city, and 24 highway in my 4.3, with none of the mods above... although i do have a hypertech, I only use it for the changed tiresize, not for the "performance" aspect of it.

Did anyone actually read the article? Or did you just flame him for mentioning anything about something ricey? How about someone giving a logical response to a question? If you read it and followed the link, you would have seen simply aerodynamics. its possible to get such great mpg out of a beetle due to the fact that it has a high drag coefficient, but is easily changed to one that has a lowerd Cd. When the guy added the wing it changed the shape to be more efficient. However, adding a spoiler to a truck, wouldnt do much for the mpg. This is due to the fact that the Cd of trucks is so high and that there is to much air grabbing mass for a spoiler to do much.
BTW, its very easy to get 20mpg from a 4.3l, i used to get that in my blazer.

 

Yea, go easy on the gas is the best thing to save gas. Cruise control helps too and keeping the motor well maintained. Plus gas isn't expensive anyway so quit crying.

Ha I'm not that big of a bawla.

All I really meant though was I hear all these people complaining how they can't afford gas and it's like extra 15-20 bucks. Granted that adds up quick but the same people who are complaning are also out there throwing 20 bucks away at stupid crap they buy all the time.

Complain when gas gets to 10 bucks a gallon.

 

FYI: I get 18-26 mpg

I started getting less with a new Fram Air Filter. I replaced it with a PartsMaster, now I get about 1 more mpg.

The one that was in my S10 was black that is all I know about it... I think it was getting better mpg than both filters...
I bought the truck second hand...


I can say one thing about the 4300, it has the power to go up hills 8)
