Well you can try and use those gun nozzel adapters that connect to the top of the rattle can... havent used em myself, so not sure if it sprays better... or you can just rattle can the whole thing and wet sand it...

wet sanding is when you take like a 2000 grit wet/dry "black" sandpaper, wet down the surface and sandpaper, then sand. you will frequently put water on the sand paper and on the surface your sanding. wet sanding smoothes out the area a whole lot right after you have painted something. like after a vehicle is painted and cleared 2000-2500 is used and the paint comes out hella slick after its buffed out.

so then if i primer it from the can and i have them little lines if i wet sand it will fade it together?? or is it just to make it smooth??:tony:

Nite
I have primed a lot of different body panels before (never the whole vehicle though) with rattle cans, and I never had any lines in it at all. I am not sure what you are refering to. Primer is pretty easy to lay down nice and flat. as long as the panel is prepped and wiped with mineral spirits just spray away, no problems.

The lines are caused by holding the can too close. Get one of those adaptors that let you hold the can by a handle and pull a trigger to spray. They work good enough.

Also, put on many thin coats, not 1 or 2 heavy coats. Better for no lines. After covering the entire area, sand it with 600 or higher grit. Then apply several more thin coats.

The real key is TAKE YOUR TIME.

Please, dont prime your truck with rattle can. You are doing more damage than you are doing good. You might as well leave your shitty stock paint. If you rattlecan your truck. Water will absorb into the primer and cause small rust to start under the paint. Primer has no UV protection and no water resistance. If you do it you will basically be ruining your truck. If you want to go with the flat look there is a right way to do it. But please let a pro do it or you will cause lots of damage. And it will end up costing your big bucks later down the road.
