:) I just want to let everyone know that Pace setter headers fit perfect, well almost, but my buddy and I put one on in 3 1/2 hours. We only had to cut about 1 inch off the down pipe, but other then that they fit fine.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one! I ordered the pace setter header for my truck and the end tubes cyl. 1 and 4 tubes were warped on the flange so when they welded the flange it pulled the end tubes down about 1/8" I sent it back and it took 4 tries till I just ended up machining the flange and had to take off about 1/16" or so to get it flat but afterwards I was satisfied!

LOL i wasnt calling BS on that he might have a huge turbo and bored out insanely who knows? but i wanna know im just curious cuz im taking mine to the track soon.....and i know stockers run 17's and he might have stuff i do/dont something to give me a mian idea of what to expect

I think mine could possibly get a high 14 or low 15 with what i have done to it and it is a manual....i raced a yota v6 and hit 85 in 1 1/2 blocks dont get me wrong the 2.2 is weak but some will SH** it an get it...mine is strong enough to burn a lil in 3rd on rough pavement and bark 4th on smooth pavement most of the time...i can even beat the z71's that have the 4.8

Soory but there is no way your truck is even in the 15s. I would estimate you in the high 16s at best. And you must have some real crappy tires if you can chirp it in fourth or "burn a lil" in 3rd.

god amn it really is the same ol shyt, ther eis no way that guy runs a 13.6 in a 1/4 with out a motor swap. not a single person here has even hit a 14 on boost. let alone knock another second off to bring it down to a 13. and to the guy above who think he is runnign a high 14 or low 15 needs to get his head checked. man i had all of those mods an more and never even came close to a 15. go run it at the track if you dont believe me. its funny to see all the kids that are posting here now. you guys really have no clue for the most part!!

ohh and to the thread starter a good header doenst have to be modified in any way. and one of the main reasons pacesetter is soo crappy is becasue of the materials that are used. thin flanges and primary's and the design is for the 94-97 trucks not 98+ even though they do fit. the material is so cheap that the flanges warp very easily a friend of mine went through 3 set before he went back to a stock manifold. the head flange warps very easily causing it to leak. the tubing they use is soo cheap and thin the first bit of moisture will cause rust even under the so called ceramic coating and the header will turn to swiss cheese. so good luck with your good buy there and congrats on doing the research before you made a great purchase!!!! i would have opted for the kamakazie wayyy before any pacesetter product but i guess that is because i do research before i buy a product....LOL

I did alot of research and I found that the pace setter was the best bang for the $$, I really wanted an "al's header" but couldn't find one so I just went with the pace setter since Ive talked to alot of other non-S-10ers and they seemed to like all the products and the kamakazi was like $350, but what do I know im just some dumb 16 year old kid:rolleyes:

basically pacesetter is the cheapest but definately not he best bang for the buck becasue you will have to replace gaskets and the header itself in due tie. so you will pay more in the long run probably ofet just one gasket change, but what so i know i have distributed hunderds of headers done research and owned an s10 for 5 years been to the track too many times to count and have had just abou tevery available mods known to this community.

I also have the Pace Setter header.

Okay, not a bad fit at all. The downpipe was a lil bish to install because of the short aaass bolts provided in the kit.

I burnt the black crap paint they coat it with and prepped/scuffed/sanded the surface and shot some 1200 degree paint on it (I am a painter by trade) and only noticed some rust where the header was scraped during install. I would have resanded/scuffed/recoated those spots but the engine I have in there now is really greasy... long story. Anyway I think that the Pace Setter header and downpipe are a decent mod, and yeah $not too bad on the wallet$, but considering that there are longtube headers for V8's that per pair start around $150.00, then.. you can maybe say that these are expensive. Dunno, how ever you think about it I guess.

The whole reason for me to buy this in the first place was because of chevy's quality engineering. Yeah, the flexportion of the factory downpipe tore, proceeded to blow out my O2 sensor, then toast not one, not two, but yeah three starters. Oh yeah, I ended up buying another O2 for it, the first one failed before I spotted the problem. So this header/downpipe combo wasn't that bad.

Has anyone checked to see what the powergains are for it? Guessing like 15horse. Anyone?
