I am planning on getting 2 jl audio w6v2s. I don't know what type boxes this is called but would they hit harder if I had them reversed and aimed inside the box or just regular? Also can I run 2 500/1 jl audio amps to the subs without blowing them and I will probly need a cap. What brand is best?:dunno:

What size subs are you getting? You should be fine with 2 500/1's just don't go crazy with them, since the subs are only 400 rms and the 500/1 is 500rms... and I have seen the reversed things a couple of times... unless you really want to be different, I'd just stick w/ the regular way of doing things... and if you get a cap... I'd just stick w/ a well known name brand... I have heard that they are all about the same, but just from past experience, you get what you pay for... and on ebay, a good name brand one isn't too expensive compared to a no name (especially when you are comparing to the rest of your stuff... that won't be cheap either)... I got a 1 farad monster digital cap for $120, and I like it, but you could go w/ a stinger or monster non-digital for a little cheaper... Just a few suggestions.

If you fire them inside the box its not gonna hit harder really, all i noticed was a bit of a cleaner sound when i tried that but nothing really noticeable. The 500.1 will be more then enough power on each sub like DogP said, and dont skip on the cap for sure, get something well known.

Why not just get a 1000/1 and run the subs off that?
I listend to that setup at a local shop and it sounded good at high volume. They didn't seem to do that great at say "normal" levels. But then you can adjust the gains to your liking.

I wasn't horribly impressed with the w6s. They're good subs, but I couldn't justify the price. It might be worth your while to go over to www.caraudioforum.com and ask a few ?s and get some info on other types of subs.

When I was going to buy my 10w3v2s, it was suggested that I think about audiobahn alums, eclipese, and some other brands. I was actually going to try the Audiobahns, but I couldn't find a place to audition them at and the place online I was going to buy from was out of stock.

I really liked the eclipse subs, but they were a bit much for my wallet.

Also, get on google and search the newsgroups for info on your selection. When you're going to be spending this kind of $$$ it's never a bad idea to do a lot of research.

BTW, are you going for SPL or SQ?

Instead of getting the 2 500/1 jl audio amps could I get 2 rockford fosget 400 amps. Would that be better and safer so I won't blow the subs up.
NO!!!!!!!!!!! DONT GO RF... ESPECIALLY THEIR NEW STUFF! I really think you'd be fine w/ either 2 500/1's or 1 1000/1... personally, I'd go 2 500/1's just because then you have two amps in case you decide you want to split it up later, and they are the same price... at least on ebay... the 500/1 and 1000/1 both have the same features, and you can actually run the second 500/1 as a slave off the first one, so if you change the settings on one, it changes them both. I've got a 500/1 and I love it... and if you need any scans from the manual, I'd be glad to post them.

What size alternator should I get? Also what guage wire? Now for my coponent speakers I have 2 pioneer 160w 6 1/2 and 2 pioneer 80w 4 by 6s. What size amp should I run to those so I can get the most power out of them and what brand amp should I get?

It is far better to have to much power than not enuff!!!!

When you underpower a sub, your amps runs out of power at high volume then starts Clipping, thus caussing distortion, causing heat in your VoiceCoils, causing them to burn up...

More power is Better tan not enuff!!!!!!!!

You are right on buddy...remeber power does NOT blow speakers...DISTORTION kill speakers plain and simple. Now I am not saying that if you have a speaker rated at 100 watts and you feed it 2000 watts if won't blow it probaby will, But if you only over power a speaker by 200-300 watts as long as it is CLEAN UNDISTORTED power then you will be ok.

I'd just get a higher output... they have 160amp (what I got), and I've seen 200amp... but the 160 was only $109, the 200 was $200, and the 200amp people never got back to me, so I just went w/ the 160... And I think you should get at least 4 gauge wire for those. (maybe larger into a dist box, then split two 4s out)... actually the 500/1 only accepts 4-8 gauge wire, and the 1000/1 only accepts 4 gauge.
