Long ohc install with pics

I first started by removing the headliner. YOu dont need to do this but it seemed easier to me.

Next i squeezed a 1x2 about 6 in. long under the center brace.

I then measured from where the clip that holds the visor in place for the pass. side sunvisor is to the center where the clip for the ohc goes. It's approximatley 7 inches.

I then cut the holes in the headliner for the console. At this point i reinstalled the headliner. I felt for the 1x2 thats how i made my hole. I had to make both holes a little bigger.

I then ran the wiring from the dome light to the console lights. The white wire is constant power and the orange is for when the door is opened or switched on. Connect the single light in the console to the orange wire. I know most people on here will disagree using the connectors i used but they work fine for this install.

Installed. As you see i used a drywall screw to mount the rear part of the console to the 1x2. I also went to Advanced auto and bought the 8in. flex leds for some accent lighting.

Hope this helps all those with the long ohc install ?'s. I did this because i could't find pics no matter how much i searched. Enjoy

The wiring you see running from the mirror through the opening on the passenger side is for my gauges which are in my rear view mirror.

Also forgot to mention that i hooked the white and orange wires at the front of the console together than to the positive white wire in the rear as seen in the pics. The small white wire in the front of the console is also for the dome light in the center. There are 2 orange wires at the front find which one is the main power and then disregard the other unless you are using the temp sensor etc. I had no need for the sensor just wanted the extra lighting.

What year is your console out of and what year did of truck did you put it in?

If you have the mirror with the map lights it will be easier to tap into the wires from that. Less wiring to do and much more convenient. I am getting ready to put one in my new dime and will get better pics, but install will be basically the same.
