Ok, I have a 1999 4wd Blazer and I put a 2002 Motor in with the smaller (M12x1.25) 2 wire knock sensor. The garage that did the swap left the 2 wire sensor and as you may have concluded the motor is Pi$$ed and running like crap. Does anybody know if an adapter will work so I can run the 1 wire?(if so, where did you get it part number etc) Or is there some way to may the 2 wire work? Or Last resort will I just have to tap the motor to accommodate the 1/4-18NPT thread? (can this be done with the motor still in the car?)

Try grounding one side of the 2 wire to the block, take the other wire to the PCM, does that work?

If not you may have to drill/ tap a place for the old style.

I've noted threads where others take old and new KS to hardware or plumbing supply store and choose threaded adapters to match right adapter with threaded hole.

From what I know of KS - if you unplug - the engine runs OK. Problem is ... if engine has spark knock - for whatever reason - timing will not auto-retard.

I once suggested to someone but, never heard feedback from... Stick the old knock sensor in the lower side of the block (drain hole) just above the oil pan rail and extend the wire.

Otherwise, you will have to pull the engine and tap the block...

get a pipe cap that the old one will thread into, drill a hole in the end, get a bolt that will thread into the new hole, bolt cap to engine, screw old KS into cap?

my bad, double post. that's what i did for my KS issues though. ^^^^

Brian, you put a new style knock sensor on an older engine... He needs to put an older knock sensor on a newer engine.

What I suggested earlier should work...

Oh ok, jesus i need to start reading a lil' bit better. Then all he needs to do is drill and tap his then right? Or i guess he can extend the wires and put it somewhere else? On my moms 99 yukon, her KS is on the bottom of the passenger side of the block...I wanna say coolant drain hole?

but my bad, sounds like RaginInferno already has it figured out for you. I'll just 2nd his motion. LOL
