Knock Sensor Issues

Alright here's the lowdown. I have a 00' 2.2 5spd with about 100,000 on the clock. The truck keeps throwing a CEL for P0325 (Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Malfuntion). I've tried everything to remedy this: replaced sensor, checked wiring, checked grounds, etc. I can reset the CEL and go for a drive and the light will stay off, but once I stop somewhere and restart the truck it's usually back on within 5 minutes. I guess my main question is whether or not P0325 is a code for faulty wiring/sensor, or will it also throw this code if the sensor is actually picking up knock? If it is in fact wiring or sensor related, anyone have any other ideas where to check or had this problem before? I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's the ECU crapping out. Thanks in advance, any help will be appreciated.

well....replaced the plugs today and picked up a new O2 sensor. Finally solved my problems with the O2 codes, but still can't get rid of that damn P0325 for the knock sensor. This thing is driving me crazy....I'm all out of ideas :dunno: I just wish I could figure out whether it's in the wiring or if it's really knocking. Any ideas for eliminating knock??

Make sure you don't have anything loose that is rattling near the block or under the hood that might be tapping on the block, or anywhere for that matter. Knock sensors will adjust for all knocks, not just those from combustion...

Yes, a bad O2 sensor will cause either a lean or rich condition. The computer will set the code and a default voltage is used..

To anyone who is interested, I forgot to mention that I am also intermittently getting codes for the O2 sensor, both P0130 and P0134. Would the O2 sensor going bad possibly richen or lean out the system enough to cause problems with detonation or knock?

It is possible you have a bad ground. I'm not sure where the PCM harness grounds are on the 2200, but you may want to check those out. I was getting the same codes on my LS1, checked everything back to the pcm, finally turned out to be that the previous owner relocated the wiring harness grounds from the backside of the head to the valve cover, which was causing a weak ground.

I can tell you a way to get rid of your knock sensor light, but its not the "correct way"

All you need is to wire in a resistor thats in the acceptable range for the computer. But it itsnt the right way to do it.
