A good place that I have found in a lot of these trucks is behind the seats.....I picked up a 36" neon tube for interior at Pep Boys one time and put it on the back wall, as low as I could, and it came out under the seats, and lit the whole cab up........

 

thats a bit of a problem..... i dont have an S10, i have a blazer..... so i dont really want to put one on my lift gate

 

i have neons up above the feet of the driver and passenger. i have two 9" neons above the passenger and one 15" neon above the drivers feet. i also have two 9" tucked under the rear seat, one on each side. i found that the 9" ones i could mount under the rear seat without them breaking when i folded the seat.
