we just got done doing a 4/3 drop on my bros zq8 sonoma and we figured for the back to lower even with the front it would have to be a 2" lower than the front. ok so we installed the 3" blocks one day. We then installed the 2" spindles and 2" coils the next day. the front was about an 1" higher when we got done. well after driving around some its now only a half inch higher than the back. this makes no since seeing as it would be level with a front/front + 2" drop. but its only a 4/4.5 drop or possibly 4/5 drop if the the leafs are worn out a little bit. what is wrong? why is the front higher? help please:rolleyes::(

I agree it's hard to understand, but after reading it yet again I might have deciphered part of it. Since the truck was a ZQ8 to begin with, it was already lowered 1.5" in front using drop coils and 1.5" in back using drop leafs. Therefore in the rear you kept the factory drop and added 3" blocks to drop it 3 more inches. However in the front you removed the stock coils that dropped the truck and added 2" drop coils, so the new coils would only drop the truck .5" by themselves, the spindles would add another 2" to it. So basically you dropped the front of the truck 2.5" more and the rear 3" more. If the truck sat level to begin with, then you dropped the rear .5" lower and this is why the truck sits higher in the front now.

well it's basically a 4"/ZQ8+3 drop, so in other words a 4/4.5"

And it all depends on how the truck sat stock whether it should or shouldn't sit higher in the front. That's why you always want to measure the truck before you drop it so you know exactly how much it ended up dropping.

the end of the bottom of the coil should cover one of the drain holes in the LCA, but not both of them. The drain holes are located on the engine side of the lower spring pocket. Also check to make sure they are in the upper pocket correctly, there is a metal lip that the coil sits around. If it isn't around then lip and is sitting on the lip instead then it won't drop right either.

Re: Coil Spring ?

They need to be installed correctly. The correct way is set the coil on the ground, then turn it end for end and set it on the ground again, the end that made it set up straightest faces up in the spring pocket. When seating the coil in the lower A-frame, the tip of the coil must cover one drain hole, but not the second. Make sure the rubber insulators are installed and secure, I always tape them. The upper end of the coils must fully seat in the pocket, and not hang up on the center of it. I have been carefull to use this proceedure on several S- trucks, and never had one lean yet.
