Alright...so thanks to JordanZigga (you rule dude) I scraped together a ghetto CAI for myself. the problem is that now it runs rich between 4-5grand...it just bogs down like a sonofabish. If I lift the throttle a bit, it helps. Any ideas? It *SEEMS* to be getting better w/ driving (just went for a quick rip around the neighbourhood). Here are some pics.

Unfortunately the only filters I got my hands on were all 3" ID so I had to improvise w/ a Coke can hahaha

The reason your truck runs rich is because you disconnected some of the senors and misc hose's when you installed your cold air intake. (you can't just plug them up)
This is why i have not installed the cold air intake i got from JordanZigga yet.
87-93 2.5's are tricky because of the TBI and all, as soon as i figure how to hook the senors and misc hose's up and run the cold air intake i will do so.

it's not that...I had all that shit disconnected before hahahaha.....and once the truck warms up it's more or less fine :D

how do you know it is runnign rich? do you have a fuel/air meter?
I don't...I pulled it out of my ass :D and I don't like you, you know your stuff lol j/k :D

well...it used to run rich before....and it's doing the same thing...MAD bogging between 4 and 5 grand, backfiring more than usual, *AND* here is the kicker...once it's warmed up it's better...leaving me to think it's running rich and it's only really bad when the choke is on....I dunno....I might be on crack but it makes sense to me...what do you think?

if u run the truck while the top 2 ports in the ALDL are grounded out than u can tell if its running rich or lean, SES blinking on and off means normal, off means lean, and when the SES light stays on its rich
at least i think thats how it is, could be the other way around. a quick search may answer tha question

TBI does not have a choke. Carbs have chokes.

Since the rich condition is only during warm up that is noraml. the engine will run more rich until the ECU reads from the CTS that the engine is at opeerating temps. besides until you are at opperating temps you should not be running at such high RPM's. before the engine reashes opperating temps the O2 is in open loop. so it is going to run more rich.

The reason the problem goes away when it has warmed up is cause at opperating temps the O2 goes into closed loop at feeds the ECU the info so it can maintain the 14.7/1 A/F ratio

So in other words go easy on the engine until it has fully warmed up

that is always good advice to adhere to, plus i dunno about anyone else but my dime is real sluggish as it is when is not warmed up so I always just take it easy until it gets up to (or ar least pretty close) to operating temperatures

So what are you trying to say?

bwaaaaaaaaahahahahaha TB and choke....I really need to get more sleep. Thanks dude...you're awesome. And yeah I know about that...I used to run a 160* thermostat to keep that loop open but it was running waaaaaaay the hell too rich...I think I Have a 180* in there right now....still a tad too rich for my taste.

Yeah you're completely right about the warmup/running it hard...that's exactly what I told my g/f is that this way I won't even be *TEMPTED* to drive it hard while it's warming up :D

what do you think I should run for a thermostat? (from a purely performance point of view) thanks :)
