Thats what I got before I did my EGR mod. Now I get 220-240miles per tank.

I see that you have most of the mods I'm looking to do. Ex.

My questions are: Did anything you did really stand out performance wise? Was that Caspers worth the $70.00? How about the Gibson? IAT mod, which one? TB spacer, worth it?

I wouldn't be complaining too much about gas mileage. I've got you all beat, as far as bad mileage is concerned, that is. I got 124 miles out of my last tank of gas. I know something is Drastically wrong with my truck, but I can't figure out what.
I replaced the TPS, and that helped for all of a day, and now it runs the way it did before. I am planning on giving the thing a tune up tommorrow, so we will see if that does anything.

dang looks like im doing real good, i got 407 miles on my last tank, thats with the tank dry to the bone, it wouldnt crank

#13 ·
i beat you on that too man, before i put on my muffler and ran open with a 165 stat in the winter, full tank 200 miles

I would say the intake, exaust, and EGR mod were the best for the mileage and performance. I dont run my tank all the way down. I fill up when the low fuel light comes on. Usually, I get 14 gallons in the tank when I fill and 240 on the odometer, so thats like 16.5 city. If you run the tank all the way down all the time you will be needing a fuel pump sooner then you really have to put one in.

i would think, but i have no fuel light, and the fuel gauge lies a lot of thats why it wouldnt crank

I just make it a rule to fill up at about 200-250 on a tank. I prefer to fill up then so you also don't have your fuel slosh away from the pickup in the tank on acceleration or deceleration.

Best I ever got was 15.5 on a 3000 mile trip to Florida and back. Mind you, that was with the 3 kids and the wife plus all our gear in my Astro. Yes, 15.5 mpg is a total caluation per the on board computer with all driving included. Not too bad I guess.

as of now i got 223 miles and the fuel gauge show a 1/8th more than 3/4. thats on a 20 gallon tank so ill calculate it whenever, i go back to the pumps

after a fill-up, I would get 100 miles to the half tank...well...at least for my type of foot...

#21 ·
lol...sounds about right, i usually take it easy on the roads, but when someone comes up to race, the foot hits the pedal and that when the needle goes down. i would get a whole lot better if i always took it easy.

I hate to say it but you guys are doing it wrong. Unless you keep tabs on every filling, and logging not only your mileage AND the gallons of gas you put in, you're not calcing it correctly. Don't realy on the gas gauge, don't rely on how many miles you get "per tank", or until the "Light comes on". What you do is take the mileage from the last fill- up and subtract it from the miles of your current fill- up. If you are off by even a mile that is bad. You can go tenths if you're anal. You take this number, and that is the number of miles you have gone since the last fill up. Divide this by the exact amount fo gallons you filled up with, which can go into the thousandths of a gallon. THIS is your correct MPG. Everything else is unreliable and faulty. Also, I can put up to 1 gallon PLUS more fuel in my tank from when the pump stops filling (Click off, I.E. it thinks your tank is full). You have to be careful of this as well. Monitor how much extra you put in after a click IF you go to a regular gas station cos they vary on click times. I used ot get 11.9MPG, because I had a dirty MAF, a bad O2 somewhere (I replaced them ALL), and my EGR diffuser removed. ALL these things eat your mileage. Now I am getting 18 stop and go city mileage.

how much did 02 sensors cost

#24 ·
thats what i did, last time i filled up, i put in 20 gallons oringally, then on the next refuel i but 18.9 gallons(as much as it would let me put in) with 387 miles, giving my 20.4 mpg, add on that extra 1.1 gallons, that giving me 409 with a bone dry tank

Sensors are 50-75 bucks a piece depending on 4x4 and year. There are 3 sensors on the newer (94 up?) S-10's, and I replaced all three. 150 bucks is a lot to pay for better gas mileage. Also, it's more like 200 because I paid 40 for the muffler and all my time to weld it on.
