First question: What the hell did you do? J/K. But really, how'd you get a 6" difference? Are you doored?

Anyways, other than whatever issue may have caused the 6", you should be able to just trim 2" off the horns like you said, or just build your own mounts the are low profile enough for clearance where needed.

I had to trim my horns down on my doored first gen, and a few others have had to do the same, so it's a pretty common deal.

it happens to alot of trucks man. These things fit together like a damn erector set and sometimes you even have to drop one horn more than the other as well.

i dropped my horns level with the frame and it looked great until i dragged the thing a few times, now one side is 3/4" higher than the other. Gotta cut it off and drop it some more.

thats not the right solution.. i can tell you where you went wrong!!

i'm not sure what way you b/d your truck but here is the problem

you laid the cab on the ground and then made the body mounts and have the cab laid out with the fenders bolted up. it like the right way but it ain't.. at first

the rockers are level.. they are taller in the back than the front... you have to roll the back under some or do something to make the rockers level..

since the back is tall.. it is pointing the front of the cab down ever so slightly.. you don't see it just looking at the cab. but since you put the fender on you've extened the downward slope... that is why the fender is lower than the coresupport.

it might look right and be fine right now.. but fix it!!!

in the long run... ur wheels will need a bigger wheel tub, go higher up into the fender (look like u are running larger wheels than you are) but you will have to cut into the fender more and maybe the hood.

then when you put the bed on you will see how the cab is not level

DON"T Just cut the core support to work...

thats your call... your rockers might be banged up from hitting something.. this I don't know... so if you level the truck out... your rockers may not lay out in the front section of the cab... like where the fender bolts up.. and you don't want this

I would look into rolling the rockers under some in the back part of the cab... But take a look and figure out the best solution... if you roll them, make sure it looks right

wow.. wish I could go back and edit that... didn't re-read before I posted

edit:

Your rockers aren't level. the back part of them is taller! so this will cause the cab to lean forward a bit! Now with the fenders bolts up, you have the fenders ALOT lower than the core support. Don't cut the frame horns on the bottom cuz they will hang to low..

Either roll the back part of the cab rockers some, or raise the front of the cab some!

If you don't and just make the core support line up the way it is.. here is the problems you run into!

Inner fender will need cut alot possibly into drip rail.
Hood may need cut (depends on size wheels)
lower valance will need cut alot.
Bed will not look level to cab

upfront.. you will more or less be doing work to clear 22's if your running 20's.. that how much of a difference this will make if you don't correct this

Not sure about a second gen but on a first gen the rockers are level. If they are not level on a second gen my advice would be to make them level, don't just start hacking on your frame horns. Now if you are layed out and level but your frame horns hang too low then cut them up.
