i would probably say you would have to cut the brackets off and drain it then weld it back up.

 

lol on a serious note, can i use like a gas siphon to do this? lol how can i gauge how much water might be in the tank? i think it's only rained like 3 or 4 times since i bagged the truck months ago. i don't run the compressor when it rains. but from what i understand it can still pull water from the air into the tank. lol will this evaporate in the summer?

 

well you could probably siphon it out but you could try some air brake antifreeze.it dries up water and is made for air systems.just put in a few cap fulls.

it sure dose. but the air brake antifreeze will stay in there for awhile.just put in like 2 capfulls.you can get this stuff at napa and its only 5 bucks a quart.it also lubes all your seals in your valves.i put some in my truck back in december and its still there but i put alot in.

 

Get yourself something like this. You can siphon the water right out of the tank. Just replace the rubber hose with a nylon or even copper tube and you are set. I have used it and can get through fittings without taking them out. I got mine from Harbor freight for less than $5.

Just drill a hole and install a bung... then install a drain cock.

Yes they do... the tank isn't thick enough to be tapped for a fitting.

I try to avoid welding gas tanks in general.

i'll have to have a buddy weld the bungs in for me but it would make things easier. lance, you live in cali, how much water to you see your compressors pushing into the tanks out here?

 

Do you have a water trap?

I didn't have a water trap on my old setup, and after 6 months.. there was a LOT of water in there .. Never knew exactly how much could go through. On my new setup, I bought all new tanks.. I have a water trap, and I drain it about once a month, and theres usually a lot in it (1/2" SMC)

 

My water trap catches most of mine. It builds up a lot. And my tank rarely has any in it. I have a schrader tank valve on the bottom of mine and just let some air out to drain the tank.

very interesting. i'll have to toy with the idea to see how easy it is comapired to just siphoning it out.

 

i'm lucky if my compressor kicks on once a day. i'm not that switch happy yet as i'm only bagged up front. i'm replacing one of the bags this weekend. i'll drain the tank then and see how much water is in there. i haven't drained it yet since i bagged it in early december. i'll post how much water i get out of it.
