There is a clip holding the window crank on to the shaft......i wnet to my local hardware store and bought the tool to take it off but some people i have heard use 2 flat heads and push it off

 

buy the tool... its like 5 bucks... well worth it.

 

I can get the window crank off, but not the door handle, i don't get how you would possibly use that tool on the door, any further explanation is much appreciated

 

so do you have the entire door panel off and now you are just trying to get the black handle off inside

 

you don't take the handle off. You only pull the cover off and then remove the panel from around the handle.

 

sorry dude... i read your origional post too quickly... yeah, the handle stays, just the plastic housing around the handle has to come off. the actual door handle stays...
sorry about that!

 

maybe your 96 int. is different than mine but all you gotta do is remove the phillips screw holding the plastic trim around the doorhandle/lock and maneuver it aroud the door handle. the whole in the door panel is big enough that it doesnt create any problems when pulling the entire panel from the door. if your having trouble, could you post some pics?
