Adding additional light to 2nd gen front turnsignals

I could never understand why GM made two reflector buckets in the 2nd Gen S-series turnsignal lights and then just leaves one empty. And of course when you get the clear turnsignal lights it looks even more noticable. So I decided to fix this small shortcoming. I searched on a few forums and haven't seen this done yet. So here goes..

First I got a couple pigtails for $1 each at a recent swap meet.

I took the TS assemblies, layed out some Dykem fluid, made a center mark and eventuall drilled a pilot hole.

Next using a step bit, enlarged the hole to 5/8".

Using a couple small flat files and notched the hole for the two tabs on the bulb socket.

The TS bucket material is too thick for the sockets to turn and lock so the back of the bucket needs thinned and flattened all at the same time.

It's pretty much file, test fit, file some more, test fit, etc until...

One done, now to do the other side.

Both done...

I just need to wire them and buy some amber bulbs to compliment my amber TS bulbs.

what was the blue shit for though?
It's just Dykem layout fluid. It's suppose to be for marking out lines on sheet/plate metal but it works OK on plastics.

how you gonna wire them?? i would wire them into the stock 194 bulb next to the headlight so the flash as well as work for a running light..
I'm not sure yet. I'll probably run some jumper wires to the other side with the hazard lights on so everything flashes and go from there. I was thinking of running the new lights off of the stock 194 bulb but not sure how it would look alternating flashes with the stock TS bulb.

I've been wanting to do this on my past 2 98+ S10's and it never happened. I want to do it on my Blazer but haven't had time to do it. I was going to use the side marker bulb in the headlight so it had alternating flashes and looked like a sequential light.

also installed some hella 500ff lights on the toolbox the night before.

also for reffernce dont install the lights without the plastic pigtails or your lights and turnlights will catch on fire trust me. i thought i could use the fog light bulbs with the metal plate not smart metal plate + plastic + hot bulb= fire.

No updates....I've been a slacker and now winter is here. I'll get pics up when I get the lights hooked up.

I did this to my Blazer about a month ago, makes it look 10 times better. I used 3157 sockets. My thinking was the same as yours, why the hell put the bucket but no friggin light, something that always bothered me with this bodystyle. Looks killer with my HID's.

I just did this with my Sonoma headlights!! i love how its just a subtle thing. I used the same connector for the 194 bulb's and put in 2 LED bulbs
