A/C Vent Problem

I finally got the heater core back in and the heater cover. Now, for some reason, all I have is defrost. I didn't mess with any of the vacuum lines or anything else so I'm not sure where the problem lies.

As fas as I can tell, the flap down by the shifter will not move with the AC controls. I can move it up and down with my hand and hear air coming from the controls. Also, if I push the flap down and hold my thumb over the front port on the actuator...the flap will stay in place. Otherwise, it stays up all the time and will not come down by using the controls.

I pulled the controls out and all the vacuum lines are in place and seem good. I'm not sure what else to look for.
Thanks in advance

^^^^Will do. All of the vacuum ports on the actuators have hoses properly seated in them, but maybe back up under the dash somewhere they are broken. I'll see what I can see.....

As mentioned, defrost is a default position. If you have no vacuum it switches to defrost. Check your source from under the hood to where it goes into the firewall. It should also T off to the vacuum resivour (the ball) under the hood.

Hmm, well, problems solved...on it's own. SInce all I really needed was defrost, I dicided to go ahead, put everything back together and worry about fixing it when I had the time. Well, after I got everything buttoned back up, I turned on the AC and everything works. All the vents, heat, cold, etc. Lol, I guess prayer does work........

another thing i noticed from my own stupidity, is that when you're checking if all the vents work, start the truck to get the vacuum running since the vents are vacuum operated... i ended up taking the whole interior apart thinking my vents were broken, not realizing that i just needed to start the damn truck
