theres alot involved but it s not to hard and in my opion very worth it. also another site that helped me alot with the swap was www.slammed98gmc.com. if you have any question feel free to ask. also consider you are gunna want to change rear end gears too being the different gear ratios and the fast you will now have 2 overdrives. i m currently running 4.56 with my 6 speed and rpms on the highway are still lower then with the 5 speed and 3.42's

the only thing u might have to worry about comp wise is your speedometer, but i drove around for over a month with it off, ur speedomoeter is so far off that it was hard for me to get mine up to 40 ( which i would be doing cloase to 100 ) thats an easy fix though just buy the 40 tooth reluctor ring from JTR and your good to go. but nothing needs to be reprogrammed.

it s about 4 inch farther back, but the shifter is shorter and it seems to be a perfect spot for it, you will have to cut a new hole to make it fit. and i used the same console from my 5 speed just moved it farther back, if you have a reg cab u might not have room and another option for you is the center console out of a blazer with a floor shifter, the hole is in the exact same spot. i ll try to put some pics of mine up here but they might be to big if they are just give me ur e mail address and i ll e mail them to you.

i think it was one for a 96 but as far as i know all 94-97 are identical, i did get a blueprinted brand new tranny though instead of going to a salvage yard. just make sure the tranny is from an lt1, and the 93 ones were weaker from what ive heard.

I'm using the floor shift console in mine, slightly modified with a shift boot from a 97 camaro.

Personaly I think its alot nicer better setup because you can actually use the cupholders

I am also using the blazer floor shift console on mine. A bit of advice, don't buy a used tranny, you're not going to save that much and you could run into problems. I've put barely 5000 miles on mine and i'm in the process of rebuilding it right now, the input shaft bearing went bad but i didn't know that when i bought it. Damn salvage yards!!!

yes i can use both of them, but the bottom one will not hold a supersized mcdonalds cup sorry, not that i eat there but maybe once a year if that. in all honesty i usually throw my cell phone in that cupholder and even with a blazer console i would fo the same thing. and to who ever was asking no my truck is a ext. cab

actually there is suppose to be a conversion starter out there, what out trucks have is a 168 tooth flywheel and the lt1 set-up is a 153 i think tooth flywheel so bascially all you would need is a starter for a 153 tooth flywheel with the 168 starter bolt pattern on it, but you will also have to cut a new hole in ur floor, move the crossmemeber back, and have the driveshaft shortened. look on a coupld of the other websites too , troys i think has one of the best write up's on the swap.
