is it turning at all. sounds like a siezed engine.

what about fuel and spark? are you getting those?

 

Damn 2.8's, after you see if your getting spark or fuel and your getting both. Put a breaker bar on the flywheel and try to turn it that way. If it doesn't turn your seized up.

 

do a basic check....compression/fuel/spark?

well then it is time to remove the heads and see what is wrong

 

could i not just remove the spark from the effected cylinder and try and fire it up?

 

but that is not going to tell you what's wrong. if you have a broken rod or valve you will need to remove the head to fix it

 

yeah my major need right now is to get the truck into my backyard and off the street

its cold outside with lots of snow and ice
parking on the street is a ticket
and my driveway is on a 45 degree angle up! LOL

i will rip the head off when i trailor it to my dads garage

 

pull off the oil pan and check the bearings, i thought i had a timing chain knock, i went to replace the rear main seal, i decided to check the rods, and sure enough, there was no bearing left, it was floating in the pan! ditch that 2.8 and get a real engine, a 327!
