so i bought the truck and now it wont start
when it had the problem it sounded like metal on metal and if i threw it in revese it would stall out
now it wont start
it started with the sound and it seemed like it was coming from the passenger side of the engine
it died while driving on the highway
loud knocking from passenger front then died out and wouldnt start

any ideas what happened?

I've been told the problem is possibily a broken connecting rod... explaining the noise, no compression and stalling out
well then it is time to remove the heads and see what is wrong

but that is not going to tell you what's wrong. if you have a broken rod or valve you will need to remove the head to fix it

yeah my major need right now is to get the truck into my backyard and off the street

its cold outside with lots of snow and ice
parking on the street is a ticket
and my driveway is on a 45 degree angle up! LOL

i will rip the head off when i trailor it to my dads garage

pull off the oil pan and check the bearings, i thought i had a timing chain knock, i went to replace the rear main seal, i decided to check the rods, and sure enough, there was no bearing left, it was floating in the pan!:( ditch that 2.8 and get a real engine, a 327!:D
