Would it be a bad idea to put a Supercharger on my 98 S10? I have 101,000 miles on it.

v8 doesnt = major frame mods and diffrernt rearend. but does = worse gas milage. the rear will hold up fine as long as you put a nice posi in it and nice gears.

I think Im just going to try to build up my 4.3....... Other things come first but Im going to do it right... Complete teardown and rebuild with painted parts, New ignition system, New JBA headers, Supercharger, Cam and roller rockers...; IM not going for any speed records but I want to be able to get up and go a bit

by the time you do all that to a 4.3, you could have already installed a bone stock vortec 350 that would walk off and leave the modded v6... for about the same money. and no, no frame mods needed. the fuel economy loss would be minimal. about 2 mpg, max.

still, by the time you invested all that time and money in the v6, you would already have a low milage v8 installed and running, would be faster, wouldnt have that iritating as hell and embarassing balance shaft "rattle" anymore, plus a much sweeter exhaust note to boot.... a vortec 350 swap is by far the easiest v8 install. the wiring isnt that difficult.

but... if you just have your heart set on the v6, let me say this... just because you engine has 100k on it, doesnt automatically mean its ready for a rebuild. if its been properly maintained, and is still running well, it could easily double that milage before requiring a rebuild....

I know that it could double the mileage.... But I am doing it before I paint it. That way my engine will be clean and rebuilt, Truck will be bagged, everything shaved, and chekmate cover and blow thru done..> That is all in line before paint.

Im looking at about $4000 in the engine, $2000 in back bags, $1000 in new primer and shaved tails and gas door, and $1000 for blow thru and cover....

Then $2500 for rims... So we'll see how it goes

oh yeah, the supercharger....no wonder your engine will cost so much. damn. you could still clean, paint and install a used 350 for less than half that...

18 inch Boyd Magneatos....

And Im still just going to rebuild my 4.3L..its a good motor, I dont have to worry about finding a block.... I dont want to be the fastest, just fast enough to give me some more get up and go....Completely reassembled with things painted, shaved firewall, painted block, and all that good stuff it will be very nice...

Plus the Supercharger topping it all off

While it all depends on the other details like headwork, trans type, stall, etc.. Just keep an eye on what mintsticks getting. I think he's gonna get a pretty good setup of crower will change that cam to roller for him!

why is a guy with a 4x4 S10 giving "advice" and "facts" about S/C's and V8 swaps?

Have you put a blower on a 4.3?
Have you done a V8 swap into an S10?

How can you give advice on something you know nothing about?

I say go with the Blown 4.3L. Its different in its own right, and can make alot of power when done properly.
