I just bought a 1999 Chevy Blazer 2 door 2 wheel drive. Got it for cheap cause the guy said he didn't have the money to replace the fuel pump. It started and ran smooth at idle before i bought it, but would die when you gave it gas at around 1000 rpm. I drove it a few blocks home but couldnt go over 10 mph. Next day i figured id change the fuel filter to see if that would help and it didnt. I bought a new fuel pump and put it in and it does the same thing. I thought maybe the new pump was weak so i put a fuel gauge on it and it read 60 psi when i turned the key and 55 when it was at idle. While it was running i unpluged the mass air flow sensor with no change. Plugged that back in and unplugged the throttle positioning sensor, still does the same thing. Then i swappes the map sensor from my 96 blazer and it still runs the same. Bout outta ideas other than tune up or injector issue. Any ideas?

A tune up is a good idea. AC Delco cap and rotor.

Do a fuel pressure test and leak down. 60-66psi key on engine OFF. Pressure should not drop below 55 psi after 10 minutes.
A fuel system that drops more than 5 psi in 10 minutes has a leak in one or more of the following areas:
o The fuel pump check valve
o The fuel pump flex pipe
o The valve or valve seat within the fuel pressure regulator
o The fuel injectors
o A fuel pipe
A fuel system that drops more than 2 psi in 10 minutes after being relieved to 10 psi indicates a leaking fuel pump check valve.

If that all checks out start looking for a vacuum leak.

^i second the clogged cat...

most places like meinikee will check it for free...

agreed with burned. pull the o2, crank eng, does it rev past 1k. if it does than you have a bad/clogged cat.

Atta girl! I was gonna 4th that clogged cat but obviously you've fixed it already. Gotta love car and truck forums!
