Here is the full story, i was driving the 150mile trip home from school and i lost oil pressure and spun a bearing(i have a 97 s10 with the 2.2L and manual tranny). I decided to tear apart the truck and re-paint it and then just swap in a new engine. I bought a 98' 2.2 and the intake/head/throttle body are COMPLETELY different. Can i use a 98' 2.2 in a 97 even???? And also would using the bottom end from the 98' on the 97' top end be a possibility, just wondering if i have any options to make this work considering i already bought the engine.
On a separate side note if i can work something out what would you replace/rebuild on the engine with a moderate budget while it is out of the truck? I already bought new spark plugs, valve cover gasket, wires, and oil/air filters.
