fishizzle my nizzle...

I dont understand this much. The 2.2 is another 4 cylinder. I remember watching a show on tv (hot rod i think) and they were working on an older civic. They bolted on a header and full exhaust system that cost a couple hundred and they went from 80 (something) hp to lil over 90. Except that civic is probally faster than our trucks. My truck is slow as hell, slower than a lot of cars. But what are you gonna do? Maybe if u through on a turbo, exhaust and some inside modifications we would have something. But the 2.2 is another 4 cylinder motor in this world and we aint gona get 20hp with headers and full exhaust and intake as u would expect from a v8...... my .02 cents.

You bash on the 4 cylinder yet you own one. Its another 4 cylinder in the world yes. As quick as other 4 cylinders no. WHy not make it quick for what it is. By the time I am done I will have a fully built n/a 2.2 s-10. Will I hang with n/a civic street cars that run mid 11's? No but I will be a fast 2.2 n/a so take it for what its worth. Not what everything else is worth.

Dropt98chevy, I read over my post and saw how i came across wrong. Yes, i do own a truck with the 2.2, but i love my truck and the motor in it. It takes the abuse, good on gas and its fine for me. My reply was not to bash the 2.2 motor, it was pointed to the people that say its a waste to dump 800 dollars into a motor to gain 15hp. In reality, it might not be the best way to go FINANCIALLY but that doesnt always matter. When i visit the 2.2 forum all i ever see is people saying its a waste to sink money into this motor with merely bolt on that add lil or no power at all, but then u got kids out their dumping money into a 4 cylinder civic or acura, they dont gain that much from the hundreds they spend on bolts on, but they still do it. It aint no different than guys/gals with their 2.2 motors. I can see it now, people are gonna argue against my statements by saying *atleast civics are faster*. But why? Because they came out of the factory with a higher hp rating than what our trucks with the 2.2 did. Yeah, theirs preludes si running around with 200hp and they got intakes, exhaust and that stuff bolted on, but the newer si's come with 190 stock. And yes, the ricers running around with bolt ons are faster than our trucks, reason? Because they had higher hp rating stock than us. And honestly, id say go for it. Put on as much after market accesories as u can, as long as its what u want and it makes u happier. My previous truck was a 1988 s-10 with an old 2.5 iron duke. I played with it, made custom tbi spacer (2 inch wo hoo!), cold air intake, high flow cat and turbo muffler with no tail pipe. I loved it! It was slow but it was fun as hell and different. I wanted to build it up into a carburated motor so bad, but its took a shit and died. I would love to do up my 2.2 now, ive dreamed of a header and full exhaust system, intake, ported/polished head with aftermarkt intake (not air fuel) and a turbo would be awesome. But in reality, it still wont be no v8 cuda, but its be awesome as hell! Sorry that my previous post seemed to be bashing the 2.2, but i was speaking the truth in some aspects as the 2.2 is another 4 cylinder motor, and most cars are faster than us. i mean, it is a truck! Id say do what u want with yor truck and have fun. roy

Our 2.2 is equipped with pushrods., civics have overhead cams. Overhead cam engine setups are more effiencent when drawing in intake air and pushing out exhaust. they draw better numbers stock then our 2.2's just deal with the fact its slow. :)
