i searched and did not find what i was looking for.i got a 88 4.3 s10 pick up which is which and what do they do.my gauge is not working and one person swears its the sensor and the other says its the switch.i know one is supposed to be for the computer and the other for gauge or maybe im wrong.somebody give me some info on what the two do where i dont buy the wrong part

The sensor for the gauge is at the passenger side in top of the exhaust manifold.
A single green wire goes there.
Take off the wire and connect it to ground (ign. on). The gauge must move to max temp.
If it does the sensor is bad.
If not it could be the gauge, the wire or a bad ground somewhere by the cluster...

Yep, the one between the plugs goes to gauge(single green wire) the one next to thermostat has a smaller plug but 2or 3 wires I think, it goes to ecm

perfect time to change temp sensor since your changing hoses, it's only 14 bucks
