Got my new subs, now what amp?

Ok, I got 2 15 inch Kicker CVRs and a box today. Now I just need to decide what amp to use. Im considering either the RF 1001 BD, 1501 BD, or the Kicker 1200.1. The subs are 500 w RMS,and 1000 max. Id like to get the 1501, but will I risk damaging my subs? Also, what exactly does a capacitor do? Is one totally neccesary? Thanks

DVC 4 ohms? If so you want 1000w RMS x1 @ 1 ohm

they can be run at 2 ohm, or 0.5 ohm. Most amps arent stable down to 0.5 ohm, so you need to look for an amp that puts out 1000 watts rms at 2 ohm.

the audiobahn model #A1500HCX it puts out 1000 at 2 ohms, so your subs would get 500 a poece if you wired them to a 2 ohm load.

2 ohm voice coils are almost as bad as 8 ohm when you only got 2 to work with

yup, cuz at least with 3 you could wire it down to around 1.5 ohm

you could run the alpine m-1000. its 1000 watts at two ohm. it pushes my four 12's real good.

buy another sub so you can run it at 1.33 ohms

might be awile since he needs an amp, you might not want to get the 2 ohm coils

I got a good deal on them, and the guy that had them had them all wired together, so he just had one pos and one negative coming out of the box, and wired that staright to the amp. He was using a 1001bd, and hit 147+ at a local show. My question was mainly would the 1501 be too much?

Think so? The subs have a max of 100, I figure with the 1500 theyd just be getting like 850 or so each..

You should not be giving your subs 850w RMS if they are rated for 500w RMS, this significantly reduces the life of the driver and can even melt voice coils...bad idea!

I got a kicker 800w 2channel amp........sitting around.......
If each sub has two 2ohm voice coils its load
will either be 4ohm or 1ohm not 2 or.5, so i would suggest the
kicker 1200.1

2 2ohm voice coils IS a 2 or .5 ohm load.

It would be 4 or 1 ohm if he only had one sub but hes got two
