Hey all,

I just picked up a 1st Gen Bravada that has the SelectTrac AWD.

I'm curious as to how durable the transfer case is in a AWD vehicle such as the Bravada.

How many miles (ballpark) can be expected from a well maintained unit ??

It is the same transfer-case that came in the sy/ty so you can bet it will hold up pretty well. I havent had any trouble out of mine.

Your motor should die long before the transfer case. My parents had an old AWD Astro that had over 150,000 miles on it, no problems. Like BigBravada said, it's the same unit as in the Syclones and Typhoons (300hp turbo AWD), so in a 165hp vehicle they should litterally last forever.

my dad had that transfer case in his leased bravadas. In two of them he had repeated problems with the actuator motor that engages the front axle. I was driving it one time and parked it on a big snowbank... sure enough, the 4x4 took a shit. good thing it had posi too. those were just electronic problems, though, he never had any mechanical problems with it.

And much simpler, As I recall they have no LO range.
