hey...i have a 92 regular cab and i wanna put a ten behind the benchseat. i can afford about a click or two but no more. does anyone out there have plans for that. the top mount depth on the sub i am lookin at is 4.5 inches and is made by polk. thanks.

I had a 10" Pioneer 400w (4ohm). It required 1 ft^3 to get it's recommended range. I had 2 6x9's already back there, so I'm not sure how far back the seat is, but I do know that if you have 8" from the back, you can use my diagram. Now, mind you, I needed 1 cube, MTX's subs usually need less. Research my boy! Also, get this program.... WinISD. It's a very nice program.

Here they are.

Ive got a box with a 10" sub and a 300 watt amp in it behind my seat and its all the way back.
Its a box originally made for 2 8" subs that was cut bigger for the sub and cut up for the amp.
Its got decent bass. Jensen amp and Lightning Audio sub (blew my Rockford and just got a cheap sub).

I got 2 10's and a 350 Kenwood, its about 3-4 notches forward, i thought it would have been cramped but its OK. they hit pretty good for being what they are, my friends always know when I'm pulling up.

Just make sure your subs work well in a small (probably sealed) enclosure.

The box has the PROPER amount of space(only use baffling to cheat if you must).
Get a good clean amp w/ X-over.
Give your amp ample power..good ground(important) and power wire with fuse.
Don't over drive your shiznit.
I have heard single 10's done properly sound SOOO much more powerful than multiple high dollar subs in poorly designed/matched boxes.

Don't be afraid of 8's. They can be awesome in the right setup. Hell, a lot home subs use 6.5's and 8's and fill a house with bass.

10's will work and one, believe it or not, may be enough if it done properly.

I have seen 12's.......most sounded like hell.

--- I use to get off on bangin' a single 10 and people asking what I had...."a 10" I would say. "10's, no way they sound like 12's"....."no, A 10!"...."shit, let me see".

Of course, this was after I went through an "all out:02redxbla " stage that it kind of sounds like you are getting into and that's cool. enjoy.

One more thing...DON'T NEGLECT THE MIDS AND HIGHS. I am sure you weren't going to.:D

And thanks GCountach for the info on WinISD. I was wonder when a "good" freeware speaker design program would come out(of course I haven't looked for a long time). I am going to check it out.
